I worked at Johnson & Johnson full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Incredible people, opportunity to learn and develop in a tier one organization, phenomenal training, great work-life balance

    Cons

significant cost cutting led to restructuring and limited spending, taking away fun and just about last min requests/new processes weekly/constant deadlines, management was far superior in past, will be given new processes only to have them changed in a couple weeks, letting go of great people to cut costs

    Advice to Management

compensate your current employees appropriately or else you might not retain them

I worked at Johnson & Johnson as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

There are a lot of growth opportunities across many different departments. The managers and directors here really value talented people and new ways of thinking. They invest a significant amount of time and effort in helping people reach their potential. The salary and on-site perks are good as well.

    Cons

Since it is multinational company, everything requires a great deal of approval. Furthermore, employees have to keep adapting changing strategic directions. Therefore, projects are never really on schedule.

    Advice to Management

Try to create solid management strategies rather than over-reacting to changing business conditions.

    Pros

Very Mature culture. People don't interfere with your work. The general intelligence levels of the employees are high and conversation with regard to work and current affairs can be very engaging.

    Cons

At times, the non intrusive culture also prevents best practice sharing from happening. Contractors may find the initial few days a little difficult and will have scourge for process knowledge that will get them going.

    Advice to Management

Engage more with people. Share the company vision and the strategy to achieve results on an ongoing quarterly basis. Retain more full time employees.

I have been working at Johnson & Johnson full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You are given a lot of responsibility from day 1 and plenty of opportunity to excel. Your development is a priority (for most managers). Plenty of high profile brands to get valuable experience on. A phenomenal launching pad for your career. Also nice to be able to work from home when you have no meetings.

    Cons

The job can be demanding and stressful, there are a lot of asks from managers, directors and cross-functional partners. It is often hard to focus on business-driving initiatives when you are constantly explaining your call/latest estimate, forecasting, building decks etc... It is also a pain that the office is in Markham, unless you live there of course.

    Advice to Management

Continue to prioritize talent development. Make greater efforts to reduce complexity of the brand management roles enabling more flexible time to commit to business-driving initiatives.
