I worked at Johnson & Johnson (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great exposure to different groups within J&J. I mostly enjoyed learning about their data science group, which led me to know what I wanted to go into after graduating - software engineering.

    Cons

    - Zero structure: co-ops are randomly placed within teams and given pretend projects with the only prospect of being hired onto that specific team after. The only real contributions are admin type work. This is a trend throughout the company, which is why the only real way to move up is to leave and then come back. I probably would have had an incredibly better experience if I was placed within some of the scientist groups, but they only hire PhDs
    - Old school corporate: if you're a millennial / gen z, avoid like the plague
    - They dangle the GOLD program in front of you as "leadership" development, but from speaking with more experienced people in the program, it's really shooting yourself in the foot since you gain no real or direct skills

    Advice to Management

Create a structured co-op program / new hire program or don't have them at all.

I worked at Johnson & Johnson as an intern

    Pros

Loved the events they put on and volunteer opportunities!
Some really great team members there.

    Cons

JnJ stresses having a work-life balance, yet you were looked down upon if you didn't work 7:30-6pm. People get exhausted working there very quickly and saw many people leave during my time there because of that.

Some upper management was very good at wasting people's time in meetings which was frustrating.

I worked at Johnson & Johnson as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

My co-op with J&J will forever be one of my most treasured experiences. J&J employees truly live out the credo in every way. Pay was great, and the work was interesting and engaging. Most importantly, managers and directors take a personal interest in the development of all employees. Even senior directors would take time out of their busy days to have 1:1s with all employees regardless of their level. If you ever have a chance to work a J&J co-op, definitely do so!

    Cons

For someone hoping for an FLDP nomination, the pressure is very high. But this is a reality for any prestigious position.

    Advice to Management

Just keep up the amazing work. The leadership at J&J is absolutely top-notch.
