I worked at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care for more than a year

    Pros

Unlimited overtime, and if you are a person that possesses the skills they require, look elsewhere.

    Cons

Very Cliquish. If you aren't in the Vistakon "FAMILY" it's impossible to advance. Hard work and diligence are totally disregarded. Meaningless. You must jump through unbelievable hoops just to get on the floor, and are told that they want to convert people from temp-to-hire. Having passed all the tests first trial, you walk onto the production floor as if you know absolutely nothing. Unless you are a political... subordinate, don't try it. The clique is hard to break if your intention is to do your best and be recognized for same. They profess to be seeking qualified people. A misnomer. They seek people that can suck to be part of a company that promotes secrecy and politics above all. Training is a joke. Take your best game and they deny advancement.

I worked at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Company does a good job creating and communicating vision and strategy, and then linking your role to it. I always felt like a valued contributor to the organization. Some great managers.

    Cons

10 days of vacation per year for any level of employee is nowhere near enough to recharge and accomplish any kind of substantial travel. Only in America...

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up.

I worked at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Benefits, facilities, products and people.

    Cons

Hiden politics. Your success is based on who you know and keeping your nose almost virgin. They are known to force people out for a variety of reasons and blame it on performance. Still top heavy. Very poor management at all levels. There have been some very bad people that have and still work here (ask around). Do not ever trust HR.

    Advice to Management

Read your Credo and start over. J&J has never had a clue what goes on in Jacksonville. Walk the talk J&J. Get involved in the sites that are sick - very sick!

    Pros

Benefits and working environment here are among the best in the area.

    Cons

Learning curve for those not in the business may be intimidating at first. Be certain that you read job requirements and skills and abilities carefully before you apply.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care full-time

    Pros

Many smart people who want to reignite the history of success. Recent significant changes in org. structure to better align resources to what it will take to regain share losses.

    Cons

Very political environment. Significant talk of embracing diversity of style etc. but success requires conformity to the JJVC way. Lack of recent innovative technology and improved competitive products makes "winning" much more challenging. Organization/management slow to realize fundamental shifts in market/competitive threats.

    Advice to Management

The likelihood of continued share decline in the short term will make the value that is placed on the human resources of the company that much more important.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Company had a small feel despite the large sales numbers, had a healthy work/life balance, great benefits, and ability to continue develop professionally.

    Cons

Changed from decentralized to centralized, which led to decisions not ere not mutually beneficial for Vision Care operating company and J&J overall. Large amount of employees had 20+ years and were risk adverse/stuck in the ways things had always been done. Select upper management felt their career path was the what everyone below them needed to follow.

    Advice to Management

Don't shy away from tough decisions, get rid of non contributors vs trying to find something else they might be able to do, develop the process and people in ways that make sense for the organization long term vs. making knee jerk reactions.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Johnson & Johnson benefits are the best.

    Cons

The new strategy for saving money is to layoff anyone 50+ years old and hire younger.

    Advice to Management

Laying off good performing associates who have spent many years of their lives contributing to the success of J&J just because of their age and tenure is a poor reflection on our senior leadership and not what one would expect from the great company J&J use to be.
