I worked at Jones Knowles Ritchie full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Every person employed here seems to be more creatively talented and hard-working than the next and try their very best to mentor & build up their peers. Everyone truly enjoys working with one another & is open to any ideas/comments/suggestions. The new Managing Director is making huge strides to make sure the process is being adhered to.

    Cons

There aren't clearly defined teams amongst the designers at the moment, but this is something leadership is looking into. Sometimes it might seem like growing pains, but I have no doubt the Creative Directors & Managing Director won't be able to set the entire studio up for success within the first few months of 2019.

    Advice to Management

Continue to actively listen to people & empower them.

I worked at Jones Knowles Ritchie for less than a year

    Pros

    - some people who work there are friendly, talented, and have interesting backgrounds

    Cons

    - lower level employees are treated very poorly. PA's are asked to pick up lunches for four directors in four different locations outside and be reimbursed later (???) unethical demands - no work/life balance - low salary - they don't care for feedback on their own organization, seemingly aren't looking to improve working conditions for their workers - PA pushing bottled miller lite around on a cart isn't a happy...

I worked at Jones Knowles Ritchie for less than a year

    Pros

From the top down there are no egos. Everyone is a collective that share a commonality in being world class. The upper mgmt speaks directly to all the employees the same and is transparent about their direction and expectations. They take great pride in presentation and value awards because ultimately it’s a Medal of Honor within the industry. Heavy attention to detail yet they champion the ideas. Nothing is sacrificed...

    Cons

In theory the magnet wall for critiquing work seems perfect-Operational nightmare. :) give yourself extra time to hang work and beware of the flying magnet bullets. Not much negative to be said here. The cereals they generously provide for breakfast are a little sugary???

    Pros

JKR is a tough place to work at. Excellence isn’t given its earned... honestly, they’ve earned it. This is an institution that strives for the best. It’s a place where ideas are celebrated and mediocrity is stricken. It’s a place where imagination and ideas converge in the most creatively intelligent ways. Leadership at the top, from account to creative, understand this as a fundamental core and push against the grain...

    Cons

Communication can be difficult at times, and there can be some personality driven complications. Occasionally collaboration falls short due to this.

    Advice to Management

Listen, Communicate, Collaborate. Don’t let unfulfilled promises turn into missed opportunities.

    Pros

Every person here is extremely devoted. The design team is talented and willing to go the extra mile to create the best work. Everyone is always striving to do the best work possibly, and they make strides to improve as they rapidly grow. There wasn't a single person that was unpleasant while I was here, and that really speaks to the culture that everyone supports each other. They have a lot of great clients and opportunities...

    Cons

Sometimes the hours can be long, but this is natural in an agency setting. People are expected to work hard because of the high standards that JKR collectively holds themselves to, which is to produce the best work.

    Advice to Management

New talent and recruitment is needed as does every company, but with the amount of work that comes in sometimes there needs to be more heads to take on the workload.

    Pros

Big clients and interesting projects Some great co-workers

    Cons

No HR in NYC Disorganized A company that strives for a family feel, but is quite superficial and ego driven Long hours without compensation or gratitude

    Advice to Management

Micro-managing means there is a lack of trust Communicate Get HR in the studio, the company is too big in NY to not have someone
