I worked at Jumia full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Challenging, fast-paced environment where you are on the ground making many of the important decisions to help execute a strategy, hire and train a team, meet critical KPIs and ultimately build a business and manage your P&L. Unbeatable comprehensive experience.

    Cons

Burn-out. Not well compensated for hours expected to work. Senior Mgmt direction changes too rapidly without consulting experienced mid-level managers, no real growth trajectory for employees, and not enough investment in people to build the right teams (talent, size, etc.) to succeed.

    Advice to Management

Think through the decisions and allow the strategies time to be executed in these very difficult markets.

I have been working at Jumia full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There's an opportunity for career growth. You have access to learning tools and get to work and learn with some of the best people in the industry.

    Cons

Financial growth is very stunted even as your responsibilities and skills grow exponentially. The best people do not grow. No value for performance currency, only relationship currency with the right people will get you where you want to be.

    Advice to Management

Identify your best performing staff and pay them fairly especially when they've shown loyalty and dedication. HR needs to improve quality of life overall.
