Great product, confused leadership,
Apr 12, 2023 - Account Executive in Mountain View, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great product, lots of inbound leads, marketing dept was solid, lots of sales support. Product sells itself.
Cons
Sales org would restructure multiple times a year, they would hire reps/managers with no relevant experience, felt like a bunch of used car sales reps and managers barely closing deals because product was doing all the work. It literally seems like the fire the best performers and keep the worst - shows they make decisions too fast with no thought. SDRs they hired have been SDRs for 10+ years (we all know what that means = call center reps) and would cause more confusion than value before passing it to you. C-level is too old school with sales + open floor sales training, teaching reps to recite flash cards like robots on calls rather than have true sales training to win deals. I closed 18 logos in my last year and hit quota, they fired me and kept the rep who closed only 2 deals and severely missed quota. Make it make sense!
Jumio Response
Thanks for posting and apologies for the delay in responding. We wanted to double check with Sales leadership as several of the comments didn't sound like Jumio at all. We don't have flash cards or an old school approach to sales training and no-one who has hit target has left so we're wondering if you have the right company. We recognise the bits about a great product though!

Bad culture.......Starts at the top
May 17, 2023 - PartnershipsRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Product is a commodity so it can be sold.
Cons
The culture of the organization is toxic. Starts with the CEO.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We were sorry and quite surprised to hear you've had a negative experience. If you're open to elaborating please do get in touch as continuing to foster a positive company culture is very important to us and if you've experienced toxicity we'd like to know more as our culture rates highly on the eNPS and internal surveys we run and the CEO approval rating of 87% here on Glassdoor is more representative of what we see and hear.

Good benefits, poor leadership
Feb 28, 2023 - Anonymous Employee in Palo Alto, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Competitive benefits and pay, stipend for gym and internet, flexible schedule, many great teammates and talented folks working in an important industry.
Cons
Leadership says they are open and welcome feedback and criticism, but don't answer any meaningful questions. Questioning anything from leadership paints you as a target. Best to keep your head down and agree with what C-level say.

Thank you for sharing your experience and sorry to hear you left with negative feelings. In my experience Jumio is unusually transparent and the Exec genuinely welcomes any and all questions - anonymous or otherwise - both at the regular All Hands and directly to senior leadership. Questions aren’t filtered and are all answered as openly and accurately as possible. Jumio regularly reviews and improves benefits, career progression and compensation for all Jumios globally. With the FTO (Flexible Time Off program) for all locations and having just enjoyed a company-wide extra day’s holiday (Jumio 4U Day), we strive to live our commitment to supporting our Jumios as people, not just employees. We are proud of our strongly positive eNPS (Employee Net Promoter Score) and even prouder of the increase we’ve seen in this measure - which has more than doubled in some regions over the last year. We are always eager to learn more about how we can continue to improve the employee experience. Should you have further feedback, we invite you to contact a member of the People and Culture team.

Thank you for your post. Given your tenure here at Jumio, you have most certainly seen a lot of change within the company and the market. We take your comments and feedback very seriously and would like to respond to them. First we agree … the innovation and product direction is very exciting and our performance and growth tells us that we are delivering what the market and our customers want and need. We have a large global customer base testing and using these products 24/7 and partnering with us in pushing innovation even further. Your comment inferring that we are losing large customers does not align with our extensive customer data and insights, and we strongly encourage you to raise all concerns with anyone in the Jumio team so that we can respond expeditiously as needed. We also want to address your comments on morale and leadership. You are correct, we have seen changes in our executive leadership team. These changes are part of our journey to grow and scale Jumio to deliver on our mission of making the internet a safe place and to eradicate fraud. These changes have been made to bring in experienced leaders in this phase of our growth to ensure we have the knowledge and expertise to deliver on our potential. We are most certainly a fast-paced, highly innovative organization best suited to those who thrive on change and enjoy the challenges of creating new markets and driving industry-impacting initiatives. Our employee satisfaction surveys show very high and growing levels of engagement and the feedback from all employees tenured and new is that they enjoy and appreciate a very transparent culture and regular clear communications on strategy and direction. Additionally, over 90% of our corporate employees are shareholders and we believe strongly that our people are the face of our company, our people drive the innovation and success of our technology and of our customers, and therefore our people should share in the ownership of that success. We hope this addresses some of your concerns, and we strongly encourage you to raise any of these concerns with anyone in the team. Your success and happiness at Jumio matters!

Phenomenal CEO. Phenomenal work experience.
Nov 14, 2022 - Marketing Manager in Palo Alto, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I worked at Jumio for several years and was impressed by the company's technology, crazy growth, and solid exec leadership. Robert Prigge, in particular, was probably the best CEO that I have ever worked for. He's a very strong leader with a strong vision and solid communication skills -- and a gifted motivator.
Cons
The sales team needs more direction and technical depth, but that was more of a function of poor sales leadership.

Great Place to Be!
Aug 16, 2022 - Sales Associate in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I started my career at Jumio in 2016. It has been nothing short of an amazing 6 year experience. Company is fast paced so there are many opportunities for growth CEO provides regular transparent communication, listens and encourages growth both personally and professionally. Recently spending time with every employee 1-1 - every employee 1-1 worth saying twice Culture is wonderful - can create new friend and mentors globally Work with Top-Thought leaders who are at the top of their game (you normally don't get such access) Clients are Top Name Brands doing business with Jumio globally The Mission plays a big role in my work - We are helping eradicate Identity Theft - feels good to be part of a solution
Cons
No company is perfect. While we grow there are things that are evolving (updating technology and formalizing process and procedures) which are all to be expected during hyper growth mode.

We are very sorry to read your disappointment in leadership, and we are here to listen and learn - please feel free to raise questions or concerns directly with your Functional Executive, with anyone within the P&C team or, for ethical concerns you can contact Lighthouse - details are available in the handbook or ask any member of P&C. We do agree that our outlook is very strong and the opportunities in front of us are very exciting. Part of how we keep our business strong is to constantly adjust our focus and priorities. Recently, as you mention, we did indeed make adjustments to our business which impacted many areas including investment areas, focus, priorities and did result in a rightsizing of our workforce by just over 5%. We were fortunate in being able to minimize this adjustment and those affected have been supported throughout the transition.

Nov 3, 2022 - Sales Manager in Palo Alto, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Undisputed leader in fascinating and mega-growth market Senior leaders engage and solve problems as quickly and wisely as they can Product is making massive leaps to further differentiate in the market TONs of opportunity for impact, best idea wins Good, fun people to strive for greatness with
Cons
Everyone is too busy, building and operating a decacorn is hard. Sometimes well meaning people come off as harsh. Rapid growth caused company to mostly skip scale up stage, causing some departments to lack process to keep up with current needs. A very few people are invested in to the startup/hero stage.

Pros
Collaborative culture Work from home Very nice people to work alongside with
Cons
Too many recent hires from the same company (Experian, FICO) is making Jumio into a company with no space for different thoughts Middle Managment in Product do not know what they want and shows on how they treat their subordinates With the recent hires (C suite) and changes, employees have been left to fend for themselves or let go unceremoniously

Thanks for taking time to post and great to hear you enjoy the culture and team at Jumio. It's hard to address your cons without more context but we will raise and discuss with product leadership. As we continue to grow it's true that we have brought in talent with experience of building truly enterprise scale organizations and products but we strive to maintain the agility and flexibility that has been a hallmark of Jumio's success to date. We certainly welcome a diversity of thought and love the fact that our teams have such varied backgrounds. We would love to understand more so please feel free to contact the P&C team or Product Leadership directly if you're comfortable sharing your concerns and ideas in more detail.
