I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great talented people in all functions. At ground / foot soldier level very lean operation. CEO and exec team does a great job at company meetings and all hands communicating the company vision.

    Cons

Too much uncertainty (read layoffs) in the air every alternate quarter (for what ever reason and creates disturbance in the company culture / state).

    Advice to Management

Middle Management heavily redundant, time to trim there and get to better definition of their roles, responsibilities and performance review. Dilutes down the vision or makes it seem un-real during execution.

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are by and large the nicest I have worked with. They truly want to do the right thing. The CEO is very competent and charismatic, looking to take Juniper to the next level.

    Cons

Very siloed and unorganized. They are a 21 year old start up, at least that's their mentality. Stuck in the "this is the way we have always done it" mind set. They need to focus on documenting processes and procedures and not rely on "tribal knowledge".

    Advice to Management

More transparency on bonuses; re org the business to eliminate redundancies and make it less taxing on learning the business, who to contact and structure.

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - unique technologies, good products and pocket of very talented and committed teams
    - good base of OTT and historical Telco customers
    - charismatic and very approachable CEO

    Cons

    - confusing strategy (2 years ago it was all about being software company, last year it was about merchant silicon, and now it's all about becoming cloud provider with no idea of the services to be offered to which customers nor the revenue to be made). Confusing portfolio (Leaders do not make the difference between routing and switching and ended up selling routers very cheap and with switches too expensive to sell)
    - very annoying ethic situation: senior exec of strategy/PLM is engaged in extra-marital affair with a director lady from his organization. Most people are aware and embarrassed. Many are annoyed about the unfair advantage and its impact on people and business decisions. Few are acting smart and sucking up to her but the majority is wondering what is HR doing and where is the company code of conduct ?
    - many good engineering talents leaving. Quarterly layoffs and everyone is wondering how big the next one coming in october

    Advice to Management

    - adress and clean up the ethics concern. It is very inappropriate for a company like Juniper
    - You still have golds in your hands. Please find your true north for your strategy and stick with it, get your employees onboard and go execute. Please stop internal marketing and spin, people stopped believing it long time ago.

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Pretty good flex hours. Lots of good people with great integrity. Decent career growth if you can navigate the constant restructures.

    Cons

Have been with Juniper over 10 years. Sadly more and more managers insisting on same quality of work with less resources. Retaliation and isolation is swift if you don't just go with the flow. They provide ability to give feedback and surveys but it is very easy to reverse engineer who provided which feedback or survey and as a result one can't really be honest as some managers retaliate. The repeat layoffs and restructures are becoming a norm whereas 6-8 years ago they were rare. Moral is declining. It's sad. I think upper management has no clue what happens with middle managers and how they treat their teams.

    Advice to Management

Walk the talk. Provide employees safe method to provide feedback. Act on feedback and make sure managers are compassionate people who truly understand the needs of their team rather than the needs of the manager. I think upper management has no clue what happens with middle managers and how they treat their teams.

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

good base salary and decent benefit package solid routing business with big enough service provider customers

    Cons

lack of leadership in other business domains like switch and security in both product management and marketing. engineering also got impacted as no clear path to build profitable product

    Advice to Management

stop trying to consolidate routing/switch/NGFW because they are so much different by their natures. let Switch and Security compete in their own market instead of trying to build a switch or NGFW out of a router
