I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time

    Pros

    Amazing people (fellow engineers)
    Flexible
Nothing more I can think of.

    Cons

Horrible business direction, always following the trend instead of innovating and jumping late in the game.
Cost cutting has been a habit. Amazing engineers were let go, but none of the managers/directors were ever fired, absolutely ridiculous.
Useless hierarchy, it doesn't work. No more motivation to work and produce quality.
Every good engineer I talk to is about to leave (including me) before the next layoff.
Hardly any product being delivered. Do not step into Juniper

    Advice to Management

Keep good engineers and layoff all the management (I know juniper will never do it, but anyway I hope) and thats the only way Juniper can start to innovate.
If the business is not growing it is not because of engineers, its because of the management and PLM. Fire them first.

Letting go of amazing engineers is giving a bad sign for people still in the company, and people like me realized this is not the place anymore and we are moving out as well.

I worked at Juniper Networks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great benefits
    Differentiated products
    Good working environment

    Cons

No shared goals or vision, just this constant insistence to move fast but without any destination in mind.
Almost totally focused on service providers, missing a massive opportunity with enterprise customers.
Wasting the differentiation they have in cutting-edge products by constantly prioritizing cash cow business that isn't growing.
Trying to resuscitate a dead security portfolio.

    Advice to Management

You need substantial change in your marketing leadership, they are a massive part of the problem.
Sell off the security portfolio, you're never going to turn it around especially with marketing in the chaos it's in.
Fish or cut bait with the enterprise business. Right now it's just a distraction from the service provider business and needs substantial investment to build its momentum.

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time

    Pros

Flexible, Open to ideas from new college grads

    Cons

Pace is really slow, not worth it for new college grads.
Legacy development technologies, very unproductive methodologies.
Not good compensation for college hires.

    Advice to Management

Hire new college grads to tell you what to do rather than company asking them to work on legacy stuff. Innovation is lost, the company is no longer innovating, its just a bait.

I worked at Juniper Networks (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Love their culture. Two key phrases used daily is Management is authentic and approachable.

    Cons

As most companies once a year need to clean house and make some very difficult decisions on who to let go. It has been my experience that most of the loses were positions that were found to be duplicated or given to folks looking for a challenge.

    Advice to Management

Keep up your good work. The company is strong and is only getting better.
