I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The management team at Juniper Networks for Inside Sales allows us to focus on our jobs and not micro-manage our work days. For the most part we are able to run our territory in conjunction with our field counterparts, the way we see fit. We do not have call metrics. The management team truly understands work/life balance and will be the first to tell an employee to leave if there's an issue at home. The benefits are incredible - 3 weeks paid vacation, 3 weeks sick time, 30% 401k matching, health, dental, etc, etc. And if you're a female - 100% paid maternity leave for 16 weeks. (There is paternity leave as well but I'm not sure what the details are on it). Travel is possible for an inside sales person but not required. Upper management is accessible and seems to truly want our opinions.

    Cons

Salaries are on the low side for high tech inside sales just outside of Boston. The upper sales management seem to allow the operations team make decisions on how we are paid based on system limitations rather than making the system work for us. And lastly - sales management can't just leave well enough alone! Every year or even every 6 months they are carving out new territories, changing the GTM strategy. It's no wonder people don't hit their quota - we need time to BUILD the territory we have....not change everything!

Also - there is very little job advancement because no one ever leaves in other divisions of the company.

    Advice to Management

Keep things simple. Don't change compensation plans as much, don't change territory assignments as often. Stand up to upper management when something doesn't "work"

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Some great people with good experience to learn from.
    Opportunities exist to change roles.
Starting to make the right moves to transform the company, but still slow to evolve.

    Cons

Extremely Sunnyvale-focused ref decision-making makes all remote locations somewhat precarious.
All program decisions roll up to 1 single person.
Lots of process overhead and inefficiency.
Still very much a hardware company in a software era.

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great employees, good resources to learn from, amazing products, software is by far the best in the industry. Pay isn't the best but decent.

    Cons

Dropped multiple product lines to keep from having a complete solution. Impossible to find any information easily. Marketing is lacking for such a good position in the networking industry.

    Advice to Management

Please keep the product lines in tact. Please advertise so to make recognition easier. There are some amazing minds at juniper. Don't let them go to waste by not capitalizing on it.

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Strong Management and technology portfolio in IP routing, Switching and Security. Very Strong reputation of having high quality products and very well liked by customers.

    Cons

Lots of negative churn in last 5 years with products leadership and competitive offers. In the last year it looks like they have turned this around under Rami

    Advice to Management

Refocus to become a software company and use IP assets and high quality solutions to be bell weather against larger industry move away from hardware based solutions

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I feel that my compensation is average for the industry. Company allows you to set aside 10% of your salary to purchase stock at 15% discount every 6 months which is a good benefit.

I like the fact that many folks in upper management have been with the company since it was a startup, this includes the CEO and CTO. Upper management is approachable, receptive to feedback. There is also a strong emphasis on ethics. New CEO in 2015 is a positive change.

From a technology perspective Juniper is a leader in the network infrastructure space.

The CFO keep a tight watch on company expenses. There are periodic small layoffs which helps the company run lean but I don't think it is understaffed.

    Cons

The focus on the bottom line means that the company is very stingy with stock options.

Career development does not seem to be a priority for my manager in particular.

    Advice to Management

Be a bit more generous with stock options, allow employees to feel like they own the company.

Lower level management is supportive, but could do a better job communicating and encouraging career growth.

I worked at Juniper Networks as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

They value their intern program. Great perks including field trips, weekly intern meetings, and general appreciation

    Cons

The work is busy work that employers don't have time for. To be expected, but still busy work for the interns

    Advice to Management

Find some interesting projects for interns to work with. That is more important than the environment time wise. Other than that great job!

I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Many inside sales positions are just call rooms where the rep's make 100's of cold calls per day. Juniper partners each inside rep with 1 outside rep, both responsible for the same territory number. Inside reps are given SE support and are treated as valuable as the outside reps. Great stepping stone to outside sales.

    Cons

The company is constantly changing products. We spend months working on strategies around specific products only to have them sold off. It creates an environment where people are afraid to purchase wondering what's next to go.
