I worked at K. Hovnanian Homes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is no good reason to work K. Hovnanian Homes

    Cons

Management does not give hourly employees respect. They only support the supervisors. It does not matter how hard you work and give your time without any acknowledgement from management. The supervisors are back stabbers and when they fell threaten by your work performance, they find away to get rid of you. I was there for 4 years and I seen a lot of hardworking hourly employees let go or they quit.

    Advice to Management

The 4 years that I worked there I only seen 2 people get promoted to a supervisor. Their choose was the brown noser's.

I worked at K. Hovnanian Homes full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Free coffee, some really great coworkers, a paycheck. Best advice: if you are lazy, become friends with VP's and HR so your antics will be swept under the rug.

    Cons

High turn over. Trouble hiring quality employees. So many good employees chased out of the company. So many good trades chased away. This place is for you if you enjoy working in a drama filled office. Negative emotions, mean girls/guys, petty rule making for kicks, falsifying work and information.

    Advice to Management

Nothing can be written here that you don't already know.

    I worked at K. Hovnanian Homes full-time

    Pros

I had the pleasure of working with some great people

    Cons

Terrible operation! Empty promises, incompidant management, buyers are referred to as units, closing are all that matters. Held to standards that superman couldn't achieve. The shareholders are the focus. Condescending management staff that talks out of their arse and supports policy that worked 20 years ago. By far the worse company I have ever worked for!

    Advice to Management

Close pull out of Florida and euthanize your management staff.

    Pros

Longtime National Builder out of New Jersey

    Cons

3 D's: Disorganized, Dishonest, and Do Not Pay Employees and Subcontractors
The South Florida Division is not organized and the people currently in charge curse at the employees, slander fellow employees in meetings, and get satisfaction out of firing and yelling at everyone.

    Advice to Management

Replace the New Management that was put in place in January .

I have been working at K. Hovnanian Homes full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits are almost worth it

    Cons

Management doesn't care and talks down to sales. Sales managers play favorites with sales staff. Some managers encourage sales staff to hide info from buyers and use less than stellar selling techniques to get the sale. Too many and frequent threats regarding sales quotas.

    Advice to Management

Treat your sales staff better instead of constantly berating them and talking down. Teamwork goes a long way and would improve this company drastically.

    Pros

    Land and locations for communities

    Cons

Intimidate and Treat Employees Poorly, Do not pay Subcontractors, Poorly drawn plans that create extra work for new employees then blame employees for not fixing issues.

    Advice to Management

Change culture to a Team Environment, not a Combative Management Atmosphere.
Treat employees fairly; new employees should not be treated as though they have caused all of the problems that need to be fixed.
