I have been working at K. Hovnanian Homes full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits are almost worth it

    Cons

Management doesn't care and talks down to sales. Sales managers play favorites with sales staff. Some managers encourage sales staff to hide info from buyers and use less than stellar selling techniques to get the sale. Too many and frequent threats regarding sales quotas.

    Advice to Management

Treat your sales staff better instead of constantly berating them and talking down. Teamwork goes a long way and would improve this company drastically.

    Pros

    Land and locations for communities

    Cons

Intimidate and Treat Employees Poorly, Do not pay Subcontractors, Poorly drawn plans that create extra work for new employees then blame employees for not fixing issues.

    Advice to Management

Change culture to a Team Environment, not a Combative Management Atmosphere.
Treat employees fairly; new employees should not be treated as though they have caused all of the problems that need to be fixed.

    Pros

It was a great place to work prior to all the leadership changes.

    Cons

When the new president came over from Richmond American Homes, it went downhill from there.

    Advice to Management

Poor Mr. Hovnanian has no idea how is leadership destroys such good talent.
PEOPLE LEAVE BECAUSE OF MANAGEMENT NOT BECAUSE OF A COMPANY!

I worked at K. Hovnanian Homes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Medical insurance is decent.

    Free coffee.

    Cons

Company is incapable of forward thinking.

HR in nonexistent or on permanent snooze.

    Old boys club.

Labor and material awarded to the lowest bidder.

Morale is horrible in division offices.

    Subpar product with unhappy buyers.

    Spotty trade relations.

Archaic business mentality that will set you back in the industry.

    Advice to Management

Remove yourself from the high horse and resign. The company would be better run by the employees that care- there are many of them in division offices. They happen to be stiffled by egotistic management. Stop allowing managers to hire their friends. It just adds to the management "feet up on the desk" mentality. Employ management that understands how to spend and manage money. It matters. Fire all HR, attempt to put people on site that open their eyes to the chaos, unprofessionalism and abuse that management creates.

    Pros

National Company offering a gorgeous product.

    Cons

Super unorganized. Overall they do not care about anything but numbers. They dont look out for their employees nor their homeownets. Working for K. Hovnanian was depressing. Seriously, I became anxious and depressed during my duration here. An absolutely miserable environment. Please do yourself a favor and choose another builder. I beg you! I have since switched careers.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your front line. Give them the benefit of the doubt. Dont pit one rep against another. Lose the ego! Foster a team environment. The job is stressful as is, creating more drama is so unprofessional and unnecessary. You are in a position to create an awesome culture. Use your influence positively. You are the biggest part of the problem.

CFO is condescending and an ego maniac. Ara either approves of it or does not realize the mistakes the CFO has made and continues to make with his ignorant and dictatorship style.

    Advice to Management
