I have been working at K12 full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are friendly and overtime is offered.

    Cons

Micro managed, no room to grow or opportunities for growth. Lots of favoritism lack of professionalism. They only care about numbers not people if you don't constantly dial you get reprimanded also if you sit idle you get reprimanded. It's a call center not a family support center. You have only so many minutes to help a family of you get reprimanded for call time. This place is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen. Management says the only way for possible promotion is special teams and there is nothing special about that team. Only that no one wants to be on it.

    Advice to Management

Care about your employees and families not numbers!!

    I worked at K12 full-time

    Pros

Talented coworkers, nice to work with

    Cons

Profits first: layoffs, heavy internal politics, reducing benefits. Talent who does not leave voluntarily is laid off just to achieve bottom line.

    Advice to Management

You can't have Students First if you have demoralized employees...

I have been working at K12 full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Some very smart people passionate about education...but many of the best are leaving or being choked by choas

    Cons

As a longtime employee, it's hard to see that the company has lost so many great people, seems to lack a vision, and suffers from Management 101 failures. Senior executives are leaving, there is practically no communication about the strategy/vision/mission, lots of layoffs without explanation, etc.

    Advice to Management

People are confused, paranoid, and insecure. If you want to retain the good ones that are left, you are going to need to figure something out ASAP. We need to hear from the CEO more...and not a pre-recorded PR message. We don't know who is steering the ship or where we are going.

    I worked at K12 full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Work from home opportunities. Flexible hours available. For the most part good co-workers. Attempting to use Agile within the development organization.

    Cons

There used to be a real passion and mission from the senior leadership all the way down through the company, unfortunately, no longer the case. Lack of trust throughout the company and they wonder why their adoption of Agile is a failure. Too many people get promoted without merit, creating to many levels of management.

    Advice to Management

Trust your people and flatten the organization.

    I worked at K12 full-time

    Pros

Could potentially be a big winner due to change in political landscape

    Cons

Poor management and communication top to bottom at this for-profit education company

    Advice to Management

Create an atmosphere of trust by building mission and values in the daily work of all employees. Paranoia is rampant, no communication from management leads to insecurity.

    Pros

Company mission to support kids in finding the right education

    Cons

recent downsizing has lead to people working multiple jobs and, in some instances, outside of what they were hired to do. Extreme workloads lead to high attrition rates.

  7. "Will desperately try to not pay you"

    Pros

Helping families through providing educational services. Coworkers tend to be good. Pays lip service to its employees about bonus opportunities

    Cons

The bonus structure continually changes, as the company tries to not pay its employees. Has made multiple errors on paychecks and takes weeks to straighten out. Was 5 mins late the day before a holiday due to traffic and automatically forfeited holiday pay.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees according to how you present yourself.

    I worked at K12 full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great People that you work with, Great managers at the top.

    Cons

The great managers put absolute egocentric idiots to see over you and micromanage the hell out of you. Want you dialing every 90 seconds and if you are not you will be yelled at. Want you to stay and work all of these extra hours during busy season but you aren't compensated for it. There isn't a work to compensation balance.

    Advice to Management

There are many ways for a sales team to grow and the micromanaging everything they do is not one of them.

    Pros

Non-management displays concern and love for their jobs. You get to be off on weekends. But you will have to work year around.

    Cons

Management has no real understanding of what it takes to insure that the students and faculty/staff are appreciated. Nobody in management takes responsibility for things going wrong. If you make a mistake or have a misunderstanding you should definitely be concerned about your job security. The turn over is extremely high. Positions are always open because people see the unethical practices and quit. I would advise to definitely steer clear of this organization as the Head of School Dr. Sides is clueless and under qualified.

    Advice to Management

Show more appreciation to employees who love their jobs and the children they are helping
