I have been working at KBI Biopharma full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Salary Opportunity for advancement if you are okay working 60 hr weeks or learn which people to suck up to.

    Cons

It's an unneccesarily disorganized mess. Everything takes twice as long as necessary, and equipment is often not working or available when you need it. Poor business development decisions by nonscientists lead to awful and stressful situations for the "lowly" analysts who do the work. No training program... Sink or swim and pray you are doing things correctly. High turnover. Double standards and favoritism abounds....

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to more than just revenue and at least pretend like you care about your employees wellbeing. The level of disorganization creates so much work and stress and could be completely avoided. The company is big enough to start developing formal training programs: learning on the fly leads to way more problems than any costs saved by not having formal training.

I have been working at KBI Biopharma full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people are incredibly friendly and helpful, as well as competent and knowledgeable (for the most part). Expectations are high, but mistakes are easily forgiven and there is a lot of grace for things that come up beyond your own control. People generally get raises every year as well as annual bonus. Tons of paid time off; I have never had trouble taking any.

    Cons

There is always a lot going on. If you don't know how to say "no", it can be easy to get overwhelmed and get into a pattern or working 50 hours/week (hence some of the negative reviews on glassdoor). However, as long as you are willing to say "no" from time to time, and to establish your own work life balance, it's relatively easy to maintain 40 hour work weeks.

I have been working at KBI Biopharma full-time

    Pros

The compensation is decent. No other pros.

    Cons

Instead of solving problems, an unreasonable amount of time is spent playing the blame game. There seems to be a lot of upper management, and not a whole lot of knowledge. I do not enjoy the culture of this workplace.

I have been working at KBI Biopharma full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Free breakfast once per month

    Cons

Too much expansion. Institution of the HB1 visa program destroyed employee moral. The company culture has completely changed.

    Advice to Management

Stop buying new companies. Start paying attention to what is actually happening to your work force. Stop the Underground Railroad. Married couples present a conflict of interest if they both work in the same group.

I have been working at KBI Biopharma full-time

      Pros

Almost everyone is helpful and eager to perform well. Great place to learn new techniques and different processes in industry.

      Cons

Supplies are scattered throughout 3 different analytical labs so time is wasted looking for things. High hiring rates result in overcrowded lab spaces and limited parking.

I have been working at KBI Biopharma full-time

      Pros

      - Good Pay - Some nice people who are trying to do the right thing and work to the best of their abilities

      Cons

      - No work-life balance (numerous employees have this complaint) - Highly disorganized - High turnover - No proper/organized training (sink or swim culture) - Talented employees being under-utilized, while unskilled and sneaky employees are continuously promoted - Management does not take responsibility or hold their employees accountable - Constantly taking on projects with not enough man-power to handle it...

      Advice to Management

Please take into consideration of why this place has a high turnover rate. KBI has so much potential and you're losing a lot of good people because you refuse to invest in your employees. Stop playing the blame game and take a serious look of why things are turning out the way they are. KBI runs on poor planning and being the fastest does not make you the best. Place more emphasis on quality instead of quantity and listen...

I have been working at KBI Biopharma full-time for more than a year

      Pros

The company is growing like wildfire. There is good pay, great coworkers, and good management (contrary to what others say. I've seen bad management and this isn't it!). Boulder has an overall positive work environment. The Boulder location has an amazing view of the flatirons with a scenic trail behind the facility.

      Cons

Benefits could be better, systems need lots of improvement. Currently KBI is very paper based, but electronic systems are being implemented. Also, the fast pace of our site is not sustainable. Management sees this and is working towards fixing it. KBI is far from perfect, but is moving in the right direction.

      Advice to Management

Continue improving. Continue investing in employees

I worked at KBI Biopharma full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Individually everyone there tries their best to keep up with the crazy schedule. What is done is pretty amazing given the lack of formality often need for the work.

      Cons

Change is necessary. How it was implemented was very unprofessional. It was unfortunate to feel that I needed to leave as I did believe the company was trying to get to the same goal. Only if they got out of their own way....

      Advice to Management

Be realistic about schedules and staff capability. Formalize a training program and be more diligent regarding performance reviews.
