I have been working at KBI Biopharma full-time

    Pros

    - Good Pay - Some nice people who are trying to do the right thing and work to the best of their abilities

    Cons

    - No work-life balance (numerous employees have this complaint) - Highly disorganized - High turnover - No proper/organized training (sink or swim culture) - Talented employees being under-utilized, while unskilled and sneaky employees are continuously promoted - Management does not take responsibility or hold their employees accountable - Constantly taking on projects with not enough man-power to handle... it - Poor planning in all aspects

    Advice to Management

Please take into consideration of why this place has a high turnover rate. KBI has so much potential and you're losing a lot of good people because you refuse to invest in your employees. Stop playing the blame game and take a serious look of why things are turning out the way they are. KBI runs on poor planning and being the fastest does not make you the best. Place more emphasis on quality instead of quantity and... listen to your employees when they express their ideas and concerns.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at KBI Biopharma full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Is a job with good pay. Boulder is a nice city.

    Cons

Poor benefits, terrible 401K, high medical insurance costs. The company looks professional from the outside but once you work here a few works you can see the horrible disorganization, lack of any clear planning, mismanagement, lack of leadership, lack of training, dearth of professionalism. The Manufacturing and QA divisions are comprised of a majority of recent college graduates with no experience (or knowledge)... of the biotech world, no concern with professionalism, and no concept of the working world and doing things the correct way. The experienced workers have generally left for other companies where they are highly valued. Turnover is about 90% every two years. The Boulder plant is on the verge of an FDA shutdown and clients have either left for other CDMOs or are disappointed with KBI and rethinking their options.

    Advice to Management

Be professional. Treat experienced workers with respect and hire more experience workers. Begin training workers. Improve benefits.

I have been working at KBI Biopharma full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company is growing like wildfire. There is good pay, great coworkers, and good management (contrary to what others say. I've seen bad management and this isn't it!). Boulder has an overall positive work environment. The Boulder location has an amazing view of the flatirons with a scenic trail behind the facility.

    Cons

Benefits could be better, systems need lots of improvement. Currently KBI is very paper based, but electronic systems are being implemented. Also, the fast pace of our site is not sustainable. Management sees this and is working towards fixing it. KBI is far from perfect, but is moving in the right direction.

    Advice to Management

Continue improving. Continue investing in employees

I worked at KBI Biopharma full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Individually everyone there tries their best to keep up with the crazy schedule. What is done is pretty amazing given the lack of formality often need for the work.

    Cons

Change is necessary. How it was implemented was very unprofessional. It was unfortunate to feel that I needed to leave as I did believe the company was trying to get to the same goal. Only if they got out of their own way....

    Advice to Management

Be realistic about schedules and staff capability. Formalize a training program and be more diligent regarding performance reviews.

I have been working at KBI Biopharma full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The boulder site is growing so the ability to get your hands on a lot of projects is good. Directors and below are for the most part great people to work with. That's about it.

    Cons

The senior leadership team can be described at best as completely inept and at worst utterly dishonest. At least one client has backed out so far due to how poorly the project was handled and other projects aren't going so well either. The blame for this lies solely with management. There are great people working here that are more than capable of handling these projects if they were just given the time and tools... they need to do so. Upper management has no sense of what a reasonable timeline is and because of that every project is scrambled together last minute and major corners are always cut. The biotech world is not one where you can cut corners like this and be successful. It's truly amazing they are able to bring in new clients when they ride the line between being shut down by the FDA so close. In addition the turnover rate is unbelievable because of how awful the environment is. It is close to 100% turnover in under 2 years in multiple departments. This is a direct result of the schedule and the way employees are treated. If they put any effort into keeping quality staff projects would go a lot better.

    Advice to Management

    - Don't lie to your employees. - Back way off on the schedule. The site will be shut down in record time if projects continue to be botched due to rushed schedules and poor upper management.

I worked at KBI Biopharma full-time

    Pros

Good salaries, no push to excel or be responsible.

    Cons

No responsible management, disorganization, no responsibility to regulations. KBI appears to offer opportunities but is only a smoke screen. Company only interested in growth and profit and not regulations.

    Advice to Management

Be responsible, bring in new management willing to change the KBI "way" and follow regulations. Safety over profit needs to be emphasized.

I have been working at KBI Biopharma full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You'll get great opportunities to do things earlier in your career than at larger companies. Decent exposure to upper management depending on your boss.

    Cons

you'll need to work to advance and have your growth rewarded. Varies based on manager, but a common issue at most levels here.

I worked at KBI Biopharma full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It is a paycheck and that is about it.

    Cons

The place is a blame game. Only a few work, but lots take credit. If you talk the talk you can advance, even without experience. Big testosterone party, women are limited in certain departments and don't seem to have the same opportunities to advance. They are trying to move faster than they are setup to run. Like trying to run a marathon when your training is only a two mile course.

    Advice to Management

Stop, plan, then act. Your patch up job is going to catch up with you
