FUTURE IS BRIGHT AND REACHABLE
Jun 16, 2008 - Subcontract Administrator in Houston, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The 9/80 schedule is nice, it has a really laid back enviroment and the management are really cool to work with. The benefits are pretty good and we get bonuses in the middle of the year. Some projects are really fun to work with and you get good experience. IF you are seen as a good worker, they give you lots of responsibility in order for you to grow and develop in your field. Management is easy to reach and their doors are always opened for chatting
Cons
The is no training for entry level, it has a sink or swim mentality.

Experience depends on management team. Huntsville Shared Service finance is a great place to work. Management believes in work/like balance, listens to employee ideas and concerns, and company growth is giving employees growth opportunities. Comp time is available as is a 9/80 work schedule for some departments.
Cons
Public companies have strict reporting requirements and timelines. OT is expected at month, quarter, and year end for some positions but with most employees being non-exempt they are compensated.

A lot of great people work here, free parking, 9/80 schedule
Cons
Seems like employees are just a number nowadays, and all they care about is bottom line regardless of how it affects the people. We don't get paid holidays, that says A LOT right there.

KBR is a great place to work, but no company is perfect.
Aug 10, 2014 - Anonymous Employee in Houston, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
KBR is a good company to work for. The 9/80 alternative work week schedule is a plus, and if your manager is flexible, they will allow you to make up a Friday if you end up having to work on your scheduled Friday off.
Cons
There appears not to be alot of available cross-training, and professional development available to employees. Many employees will work in the same group, or even position for 10 plus years, and some are rarely even promoted. While this may be ok for some, this is not ok for others.

Friendly and open office environment, with lots of room for advancement
Sep 10, 2013 - Associate Technical ProfessionalRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- People here are very friendly and open and are willing to help you and take the time out to make sure your learning as much as possible when you first start - even with years under your belt, people will still be willing to help you and help guide you - 9/80 Alternate work week is great: 9 hours Monday through Thursday; 8 hours every other Friday. they split the office into two groups so that half are in one Friday and the the other half are in the next Friday - Their employee development program (PPR) ensures that everyone has defined goals for the year, which means there is a lot of room for both development and advancement within the company
Cons
- Office can be very quiet at times, especially on Fridays you're scheduled to work - work load varies when you first start - some days you're busy with no rest; others you have nothing to do all/most of the day
