I have been working at KDDI full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits (401k, paid sick days, paid vacation days, paid personal days); 3-4 day work week

    Cons

Management from NY is at the mercy of management in Tokyo; role responsibility is unclear; workers take on more tasks with experience but are not compensated monetarily; staff are expected to manage other staff without sufficient monetary compensation.

    Advice to Management

The NY branch should ask for more autonomy from the Tokyo branch when making fiscal, managerial, and corporate decisions.

I have been working at KDDI full-time

    Pros

A well established Japanese telecommunication firm from Japan. Collection of very dedicated employees. Close relationship with Data Center business (Telehouse International America)

    Cons

Many employees work excessively long hours to keep up with work demand to serve customers. It is not required for employees to able to understand Japanese, but it more than help to have the language fluency (reading, writing and speaking.)

    Pros

Work Environment is stable. Good Salary. Good Colleagues. Challenging work. Well established procedures of work.

    Cons

They don't require engineering specialist. It is very hard for very knowledgable engineers to get good positions. To do this, people should be a manager and be away from the front line of engineering.

I worked at KDDI full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Has a lot of resources, capital, potential in the growing market
Good financial standing. Good partner companies to work with.

    Cons

Lacks flexibility and speed in decision making and the decision is not always based on the logical/rational reason. The company culture doesn't always value academic approach. It's more like blue collar mind in IT industry. No or less rewarding return to employees.

    Advice to Management

Top management has good strategy and leadership but the middle management only look up to their superior and tend not to pay attention to their subordinates.

I worked at KDDI (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People are nice and friendly and helpfull.Local staff understand and god experience if you are young and single and like to travel.

    Cons

Long working hours always. Get asked to go on business for a week or more with 24 hour notice only. All sensior staffs are Japanese expatriats who do not listen to the local staffs who know so much but are not listened to. Support staffs in IT and HR do there best but working with below market salarys and low or no salary rises, outdated equipment

    Advice to Management

Listen to locals and put some in senior postions, you can trust them. Increase salarys. Replace broken IT systems
