  1. "Marketing Intern"

    Pros

The management team made an effort to provide interns with meaningful work and recognized when interns had mastered a set of skills. I felt like they cared about my professional development throughout my time there and went above and beyond by helping me develop a portfolio for my work after leaving KJI.

    Cons

KJI is a tight-knit group of employees - it's important to make an effort to get to know the team, even as a part-time intern.

    Pros

    Friendly Project Managers, courteous communication

    Cons

Dishonest, narrow-minded, not interested in quality, only low price

    Advice to Management

Your business would function a whole lot better if you were willing to work together and would stop hiring cheap "help" that lowers the quality of your work and causes confusion and extra work for the actually skilled members of your team. You run your business without any concern for high quality and you will have to suffer the long-term consequences of this unprofessional behavior.

I worked at KJ International Resources full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good place for young people to get a lot of responsibility.

    Cons

Since this is a small business that is trying to thrive in this economy, there is more work than there are employees. This means working 60-70 a week is the norm.

-The other Project Managers/Project Coordinators are all fun to work with.
-Able to work from home when needed.

    Cons

    -Severe favoritism by management
-Not a lot of room for growth within company
-It seems you are expected to work around the clock with at least answering emails.

    Pros

I really enjoy the people that I work with. They are very nice colleagues and very helpful.

    Cons

The free parking is very far to walk to in the winter and parking is expensive that is attached to the office.

    Advice to Management

I really like our company get togethers and wish there were more of them.

I have been working at KJ International Resources full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A casual environment. Friendly co-workers (outside of management).

    Cons

Low pay and they mislead new employees with profit sharing incentive. They lay off loyal, hard-working employees shortly before they become eligible for the profit sharing and replace them with recent grads willing to work for much less. All at the cost of quality. Management was non-existent.

    Advice to Management

Respect and reward your staff and your quality standards wouldn't suffer.

I have been working at KJ International Resources full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people I worked with were the best and were extremely professional and dedicated. The employees care about the company and upper management care about the employees. There were a lot of events to socialize and it was encouraged. While I was there the organization expanded into India which helped balance the workload. The position compensation was also revised when I was there and salary increases and bonuses were awarded. Never a bad thing! They also do profit sharing which is not common for companies of this size.

    Cons

If there were weak members assigned to my team, especially from India, it became very frustrating to manage my projects and directly affected my work/life balance due to the additional time training and managing team members. My manager did not always fix or follow up on problems that were communicated to her.

    Advice to Management

It is a small company and everyone is friendly and talks, be more transparent with your growth plans and strategies. It builds excitement and increase morale!

I worked at KJ International Resources full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A great working atmosphere for sadists, or those who, in general, enjoy oppressive environments and/or are looking for new ways to broaden their experience with major depression. Self respect optional, but not preferred.

    Cons

    -Low salary
    -Long hours
    -Bad management
-High turnover. Upper management engineered a game of Russian Roulette with staff, participation manditory
-High level of favoritism by the CEO and COO, both of whom can only accurately be described as dictators
    -No opportunities for advancement

I worked at KJ International Resources full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked at KJ for over 5 years and although my position was cut last year I found my experience there very positive. My manager was very supportive and focused on developing his employees. Upper managers were always engaged and ready to help me if I had any challenges.

    Cons

Small office did not provide many opportunities for development; but managers do try and long term goals seemed to lend to growth opportunities.
