    Great place to work.

    Pros

Lots of smart and dedicated people. Employees stay at this company for a long time and the benefits are great. Upper management knows what they are doing. Great culture of hard working and promotes innovation.

    Cons

The company is merging with Lam Research, I think this will change the culture of KLA. Long hours, some politics especially within the IT department.

Lots of freedom but lacks a little direction and smart management.

    Pros

Great place to work as a CSE. If you get the right manager that doesn't micro-manage there is a lot of freedom to do as you need during the day.

    Cons

Upper management seems disconnected from the employees. Being a large multi-national company it seems that there are disconnects. For example, we are sometimes forced to take some time off in order to help save the company money but in order to cover our contracts we have to fly people in from other sites and pay them overtime.

    Good place for techies

    Pros

The high-tech R&D work that happens in KLA-Tencor is incredible; its scientists and engineers bend the laws of physics and are at the forefront of data processing.

    Cons

Given how much KLA-Tencor relies on its engineers, the upward mobility of engineers is stunted at the top. The upper management is a large body of MBA types with poor technical imagination and vision.

    Do not join this company

    Pros

    1. Company's earning has been strong for recent years, and stock performance is impressing. 2. Most colleagues are technically strong and friendly.

    Cons

    1. Manager is horrible and good at micro management. He has been extremely rude to his subordinates since he became manager. 2. Employees were forced to travel during pandemic. If you express concern about travelling, manager would find many ways to make your life hard. 3. Upper management was competiting with each other on how many employees were on site during pandemic. So even during the worst time of pandemic, employees were forced to be onsite for no reason.

Don't dedicate your life to a company as disloyal as KLA-Tencor

    Pros

There's always a lot of work to do, even if it is without purpose.

    Cons

I reported sexual harassment and illegal working conditions to HR. Next thing you know I'm put on a 'performance improvement plan with no legitimate reasoning. One of the core values of KLA-Tencor is Honest Forthright and Consistent. I fail to see that in upper management and it seems like a huge joke to keep employees in line. KLA-Tencor hires mainly foreigners so they are desperate to keep their job to stay in the US and will do anything to make sure that happens, even if it means working 24/7. People are generally miserable.

Solid Job in a volatile industry

Nov 21, 2014 - Field Service Engineer in Hillsboro, OR

    Pros

Company has some decent benefits. The job security is better than most companies and the companies industry strength is very good globally. One of the top equipment suppliers for many years. Training and support is fairly solid for the industry that is constantly growing and changing.

    Cons

With what the company considers a better than average benefit package the salary scale tends to be lower than most. The company has said they want to make employee's happier, but don't follow through on the biggest complaints. Working at development sites and busier sites has little benefit to employees besides more workload than other sites for similar pay. Management policies and upper management goals are typical for a large corp. which means squeezing the little guys for all they have including middle management. An expectation for management positions to last a year at most means there's a big problem that has never been addressed.

    Pros

The MBA Finance rotational program is one of the best in the nation where you get to become a well-rounded Finance professional.

    Cons

This company is not an entrepreneurial company and there are lots of bureaucracy to get to upper management. They make you work very very long hours.
