I have been working at KONE full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great products, good service delivery, flexibility in working arrangements and locations

    Cons

Not many, but constantly changing incentive plans, and lots of busy work using sales tracking software which is not very impactful.

    Advice to Management

Look to remove busy work and focus on items that directly enhance the product offering

I have been working at KONE full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Once fully ramped up you can treat it as your own business, make hours that work around your schedule so long as you are hitting your numbers and staying responsive. Base pay, benefits & commissions are very competitive with upward trajectory.

    Cons

Disorganization and chaos can run rampant. Departments sometimes do not work well together causing disorganization & unneeded stress. Culture skews older.

    Advice to Management

Help foster & create more cohesiveness and culture among offices.

I have been working at KONE full-time for more than a year

    Pros

KONE pays well. In fact they have the top payouts in the industry. The benifits are very good as they even have pensions. I would reccommend this

    Cons

Just like any career; long hours and stressful situations will be around the corner. But, KONE offers many solutions for this. Insurance pays for messages as well as stress reduction.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be to keep doing what your doing. KONE is taking more and more of the market every quarter. This is impressive to note considering they are the youngest player in the US.

I have been working at KONE

    Pros

Good local support system. Good benefits and commission rates.

    Cons

Higher level positions create goals, but are unrealistic with expectations. There is a disconnect between the levels in the company.

I have been working at KONE full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The company is family owned so it tends to take a longer view on strategies and implementation. But, that is not to say that shorter term business metrics and performance are not important or pressed. The company is generally very cooperative (from an assistance and working together perspective) across business lines, and has made significant investments in tools, tracking, and field implementation. The industry is a...

    Cons

Mostly industry driven, due to revenue deterioration amid cost increases. The entire industry is killing itself with pricing models. This forces frequent changes, re-organizations, and rotating areas of focus. KONE suffers from the 2-3 year plan of major revamping of areas, management, etc. I often wonder if top management talks to each other when setting annual strategic goals and plans. Each business line rolls out...

    Advice to Management

Continue to foster an employee centric culture. Set fewer "must win battles" in each business line, but focus harder on those few that are selected. Streamline processes to improve productivity. Why on earth do I need to fill out a form, send it to India, so they can update the client account? Last I checked, I have a keyboard at my office.

I worked at KONE full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

If you can figure out the business, you can get a job at a different elevator company!!

    Cons

Management changes all the time! They fire the management on average ever 1.5 years and then try to rebuild, but by the time they hire new managers, the other manager get fired. It's a vicious cycle of impatient people in Finland trying to instantly turn around a slow cycle business in the US.

    Advice to Management

Time to fire yourselves or get a backbone, but I recommend firing yourself.

I have been working at KONE full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Each office is different, but for the most part it is a very relaxed environment compared to other elevator companies. There are some great people within the organization.

    Cons

They don't ever set a career path out, you have to figure it out yourself. They like to hire externally and consider it poaching if a manager with an opening calls an employee without them formally applying. They have a poor district office set up, and a lack of management if you aren't in a branch office.

    Advice to Management

Have career talks with your employees. HR should have a list of people and positions/locations they are interested in and should reach out to employees when offices have openings.
