Good work-life balance: It is possible to work from home.

Opportunities to travel: Do you want to travel? Just say it!.

    Cons

sometimes too many hours a week, however, they are reasonable and always due to project needs.

    Pros

KPMG is a worldwide brand and offers opportunities to pursue many different career paths. The umbrella of services is categorized as follows: Audit/Advisory/Tax. Personally I am in International Tax. Specifically, KPMG offers many opportunities to grow by providing opportunities for international rotations, ease of lateral movements to the other service areas such as advisory and audit. KPMG leadership always keeps us abreast of industry news that affect our services, keeps an open line of communication to senior level executives and encourages us to think outside the box and provides many avenues and trainings for professional development.

    Cons

Employees at KPMG are highly knowledgeable and very hard working. Job demands as it relates to tax are very high. The regular work hours are usually 8:30-6 or 7 PM even during off-peak seasons. Everyone works hard and has extremely high expectations but managers are fair and reasonable with work load. The point being if you are looking for an 8-5, this may not be the right place for you. However, if you are committed and dedicated to work as hard as required you can guarantee you will be rewarded fairly in regards to compensation and bonuses. During busy season Jan-April 15th, I have worked 830-12 AM for 4 weeks in a row. Saturdays are mandatory during busy season and usually require 6-8 hours of work.

    Advice to Management

Be more aware that not every employee considers work as their top priority.

    Pros

Great opportunities for promotion, flexible schedule, supportive environment, numerous opportunities for training, frequent interaction with highest-level execs at each client, opportunity to learn project management very quickly and early in the career

    Cons

very long hours, difficulty of balancing work and life priorities, high level of stress,

    Advice to Management

Senior management should continue to reward exceptional performance with competitive pay and bonuses and make more effort to support time off and work/life balance while not punishing those that chose to proritize their work. Although the company prides itself on workplace flexibility and support of work/life balance, this is often not actually true on individual basis. While there are plenty of working moms at the company who have great flexible schedules, the single people that don't have familities end up working more than twice as much to make up for the "flexibility" of those who have part-time schedules. This is often not rewarded adequately. For example, KPMG has a 2 week "paternity leave" that new father can take advantage of, however, their co-workers have to work twice as hard during this time without any reward. Therefore, it often seems that KPMG rewards people who prioritize having families and kids and punishes those that prioritize their work by giving them even more work to do to make up for those that are "balancing their life with work".

    Pros

Although the firm expects you to put in long hours, the culture is ideal for a Big 4 firm, and the pay is competitive.

    Cons

As noted above, the hours can tend to get long, but that is to be expected. Otherwise, I do not have anything negative to say about KPMG.

    Advice to Management

Management does a good job of listening to its employees, even its first year associates and interns. The overall culture is great.

    Cons

Industry is facing fees pressure which has lead to layoffs
    very low 401k matching program
hours can be long during busy season

    Pros

Flexibility in time and location for doing work, Not a face-time place, Client and engagement diversity keeps it from being monotonous

    Cons

This is not a 40 hour a week and totaly disconnect when you are at home company. They treat you like a professional but with that comes the expectation of acting like one and putting clients needs ahead of you own at times.

    Advice to Management

Need more recognition of individual effort. Raises and bonuses are tightly banded so the difference between a "star" and average is currently minimal.

I have been working at KPMG full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoyed all of the people that I got to know. They put on a lot of fun events and provided a large network.

    Cons

The work that interns are given can be pretty mindless. They treat you nice it just isn't work that is always all that interesting.
