I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Corporate Opportunities
-Lots of younger new hires, not just all old guys
    -Learning Experience
    -Great network
    -Great training

    Cons

    -No work life balance
    -Very little flexibility
    -High turnover
-A lot of people who are unsatisfied with their jobs
    -Long hours

    Advice to Management

I would advise management to value their associates and recognize them more as human beings instead of robots. The company could be a great place to work if it was easier for unhappy workers to move into different roles that better suited their needs.

I worked at KPMG (More than a year)

    Pros

Good place to start a career as you get exposure to a wide variety of clients in various industries. There is a formal training for all employees at all levels once a year and my colleagues were a great resource to learn from.

    Cons

There is little work life balance as you are on constant deadlines. The work is challenging because you generally have very little time to gain an understanding of a client before you arrive on site.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to all levels of your employees at all levels. Sometimes things are not so apparent as an associate as they are as a manager or a senior.

    Pros

    Great People
    Great Culture
Summers are a breeze! Happy hours and work remotely all the time

    Cons

Busy seasons can be up to six months 60+ hour weeks
    Poor work life balance
    Pay could be alot better

    Advice to Management

Increase pay or give more incentives. Plan better for busy seasons so employees dont have to work 80 hours a week or more, planning is everything.

I worked at KPMG full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great exposure to various clients.

    Cons

The group I worked in was not organized well. You were expected to have so many billable hours, but then you would be in trouble if you reported the actual hours you worked. There was NO work life balance. Even if you completed your work, you were expected to sit there until the wee hours of the morning (2am) after getting there at 8am. Then you were also expected to come in on both Saturdays and Sundays regardless of if your work was done or not. The managers had their favorites for staff, who they gave all the big clients to, and then left everyone to figure out how to get their billable hours. The attrition rate in my group was over 80% every busy season. HR knew that this group was an issue, but did nothing about it. Note that the group I reported to was different than others. I had friends in other departments that did not have the same experience.

    Advice to Management

HR stop ignoring the issue and saying, "That's just how that group is." I would have loved to stay to get more exposure, but not under those conditions.

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people/culture make KPMG a great place to work. I've had excellent opportunities for growth from starting with the firm at a marketing manager level. People care about helping you to learn, grow and identify work you are passionate for. They encourage work/life balance, however like any firm, its difficult to fully realize that and be a top performer. The marketing organization offers numerous, quality training and high performer projects that are all very valuable to people development.

    Cons

The compensation and growth opportunities are limited if you have been at the firm for a number of year. There are so many people who stay for 15-20 + years that there is limited opportunity for director and more senior roles.

    Advice to Management

Decisions and budgets are too decentralized. This makes getting things done/progress harder than it should be. And this hinders cross-functional collaboration.
