The hours during busy season can be long, but it is the same at other Big Four firms. KPMG makes the best of it.

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Lots of opportunities and cities
If you want to travel you can travel a lot
Flexible if you don't want to travel
Start with 5 weeks of vacation, can't beat it
Exciting work is everywhere and there's always something new so things won't stagnate for long

    Cons

    Can be very political
Can burn out pretty easily if you don't pace yourself
Making friends is hard as you'll make a friend on one engagement then see them again 3 years later on another engagement. Lots of change.

    Advice to Management

Culture is very client and advancement focused naturally, but it puts a bad light on people who work internally. Reduce stigma of internal assignments and reduce stigma of people who find their passion and don't want to advance.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at KPMG full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

KPMG fosters a workplace with good culture, and provides jobs with nearly limitless possibilities. The culture is made up of mostly hard working, like minded, type A personalities who are generally successful. It also offer some work flexibility (only at specific times), and gives you potential to learn a whole lot.

    Cons

As with most big 4 public accounting firms, the hours were unbearable at times, they kept a lean group of professionals so the busy times were often too busy. It seems like some of the partner's mostly cared about money and profitability and not enough on developing their employees.

    Advice to Management

Care more about the people that you work with, and less about how many chargeable hours someone has billed.
