I worked at KPMG as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Really awesome culture. They really value work life balance and do their best to try and accomodate it.

    Cons

Long hours for interns, especially during busy season. However, you'll get great experience working on engagements with some very large companies.

    Advice to Management

Management should provide more mentorship opportunities during their internships. Its great to network with full time employees to get a feel for how they like it.

    Pros

Mostly great, highly talented and motivated people, very good compensation and benefits, lots of PTO if you have time to take it.

    Cons

Workload, client demands, partner expectations and internal politics, all of which apply to any large professional firm.
Very demanding and competitive; you have to be at the top of your game all the time.

I worked at KPMG (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits; Great people. Training good. Salary good. Mentoring is good as long as you act like you really believe that the mentor is looking out for your best interest.

    Cons

Diversity and promotion of women to partnership needs improvement. Still a good old boy network promoting men over women in all areas

    Advice to Management

Re-engineer HR and culture to be in compliance with federal rules. Too much discrimination and violations of fair employment. More training needed in all offices

I worked at KPMG (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Provides great opportunity for new college graduates to keep you up to speed with the industry. Overall culture is very friendly. Prepare you with adequate experience and knowledge for your next jump wherever that might be, same with other "Big Four"s.

    Cons

When management makes poor decision in hiring an inadequate candidate it can be devastating to audit teams as well as to the client. The reputation accumulated over so many years can be tarnished at once.

    Advice to Management

Be careful in hiring experienced managers. The background and culture they come from may not be compatible with the company. The hiring of an incompetent manager would cause losses of several good (sr) associates.

KPMG truly cares about its employees. They provide amazing benefits and ensure you are taken care of. Their diversity networks allow people from all walks of life to unite and better the company and the local communities.
