I worked at KPMG (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good people, good pay, was kept busy and gave me a good experience of a range of clients.

    Cons

Sometimes kept you at a clients in the evenings just for the sake of it even though there was no work for you just to impress the client.

I have been working at KPMG (More than 5 years)

    Pros

+ Generally they pride themselves on "looking after you" but this depends on your team or functions (there's LOTS of different cultures)
+ Its not all about the salary (which is also a negative) - they don't tend to throw more money at you to solve a problem (which I've heard other big 4 do)
    + Generally nice people/colleagues
+ Varied work and a good range of work/clients
+ Good work/life balance when you're not busy
+ You can create your own career path

    Cons

    - Pay is generally lower than other big 4 but this is justified because its a "nicer place to work"
    - Career progression could be faster (you can only apply for vacancies that exist, which is fair, but not like the old way i.e. when you were ready, you got promoted)
    - They tend to under-recruit until staff get stretched

I have been working at KPMG as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Treated as a graduate, gain real responsibility straight away.
    Very friendly team
Monthly meetings in London office with other gap year students allows you to compare your progress
Amazing opportunity pre university to set you apart from your peers
Great perks e.g. Amex Card, Training programme's etc

    Cons

Pay isn't great but to be expected as a gap year student without any prior experience. Heard from other people that they weren't given a lot of project work but I guess that depends on your team.

    Advice to Management

Great scheme but ensure Gap Year students are given meaningful responsibility. Maybe facilitate the movement between divisions and service lines to give students a broader range of experiences.

    Pros

Very good company to work for, takes care of its employees

    Cons

Can be too rigid at times

    Advice to Management

Needs to be more in touch with grassroots

    Pros

Good atmosphere, down to earth compared to other big 4 firms. Doing tax you get to do the CA and CTA at once.

    Cons

Feel I am worth more than I'm paid as a trainee.

    Advice to Management

    nanan

"Graduate Entry level in Consumer Markets audit division."

Former Employee - Audit Assistant in Manchester, England (UK)

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The chance to do accounting qualification whilst being paid and working. Gain exposure to a range of clients in different industries and the chance to meet different people working at different professional levels at those client companies. Also have a good network of colleagues at same level as you in the firm but also mix with all levels and there is a friendly and relaxed atmosphere so that there is no real division between partners and other employees.

    Cons

The work can become mundane as the challenge does peak. Worst though is that you do the same audits every year and the opportunities to see other companies ends. And there is no choice in what companies you therefore come to "specialize" in.

    Advice to Management

To take more of an active interest in the backgrounds of the new employees and allow them exposure to clients they want to work on (ie give them a choice). This will enhance their performance too.

    Pros

    - looks good on CV
    - large organisation, glabal presence, multi-disciplinary

    Cons

    - popularity contest
    - management don't live the "values" of KPMG
    - NO DIVERSITY at all. I work in the pensions team and it is non-existent
    - pay not the best
    - long hours and no appreciation from management

    Advice to Management

Look after your people first and they will look after the business!
