I worked at KPMG as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Worker Bees are strong employees. I worked with very bright people

    Cons

Director Level employees need to be evaluated closely. My director would disappear for 2 hour lunches or half days when her manager wasn't in. My director pressured me not to bill over-time when I was entitled to it by law. Other consultants carrying time over to weeks when there was a holiday and then billing it. Also illegal. This person won an award with the company.

    Advice to Management

Take a close look at upper management.

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A lot of "stuff" happening, you'll never be bored. There is plenty of stuff to sink your teeth into.

    Cons

Draconian change rules. Upper management second guesses everybody or simply keeps asking everybody they can until they get the answer they like. 50 to 60 hours a week is the norm, anybody working less than 50 hours is considered by the executive directors to not be pulling their weight.

KPMG has figured out how to obtain a 2nd shift without hiring a second shift, by forcing all changes to start at 9pm, sometimes later depending upon the area. This is after working a normal 8hr day. You're expected to be at work the next morning for a day of conference calls and planing your next set of changes.

    Advice to Management

Higher more people. Honor your pledge of a work life balance. Pay attention to the number of hours people are putting in.

I have been working at KPMG as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

For Technology jobs- Above average US compensation , Perceived Brand name , Easy Tech interviews . Long Term Contract . offer employee status but may accept to contracts at high rates.

    Cons

Legacy tech with very conservative ( aka old !) processes where Engineers may end up loosing skill set doing odd jobs . Architects are power point driven , very limited access to resources . beware of opportunity presented to you and ask right questions and check for red flags before you leave your current job. Contractor are valued much less than employee for project allocation , access to resources. very few ( 1 out of 50?) are converted to employee .

    Advice to Management

Guess 360 review will help to expose the gap . ask why contracting is hanging in year after year( hint : lost the edge doing mundane thing for employee )

    Cons

Everything else. It was like pulling out on to the auto bahn from the minute u walked in till you left

    Advice to Management

I worked at KPMG as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great firm and management leadership

    Cons

None, really. They did a re-organization of location, so I was unable to convert to permanent, but that's not really a con. It just affected me.

I have been working at KPMG as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

+Guidance and training from PMLs (managers)
+Intern training is partially held in Florida and is a great networking opportunity
+Harry Mosely, the Chief Information Officer can be found walking around the building occasionally.
+Employees treat you like part of the team
+Other interns are down to Earth, good to work with, and hold interesting conversations

    Cons

-KTech in Montvale, NJ is split between two buildings. If you get stuck at the Park Ridge office, you have to deal with the SONY building's low quality food court.
-The day starts early and ends late, starting at 8:30am and ending at 5:30pm. Depending on who your PML (manager) is, you could be pressured to stay even longer until 6pm.
-Some interns get situated in Roseland, NJ which is about an hour away from the main Montvale, NJ campus.

You cant get fired here !

    Cons

    Unethical vendor management.
