    "All depends on the partner"

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The framework is there for KPMG to be a good company for which to work.

-There are many ways to get engaged at the company, from diversity programs, to literacy, to running clubs. Tons of way to get involved.
    - Tends to be very well-mannered. You won't hear the "f-bomb" too often
    - Pays well (Full disclosure -- I entered at the executive level)
    - Benefits are fine (but I have always worked for a large company so I would say they are on par for large companies)
    - offices are ok - there are some new ones being built, but the old one are ok too -- just a little boring looking

    Cons

The largest con is that none of the above will matter at all if you are assigned to a bad partner -- and there are plenty of them. There are tons of middle-aged, white men with decaying skills desperately trying to stay relevant. If you end of working for one of these folks, you are in for it!
    - no face-to-face discussions
    - HIGHLY political
    - No sense of meritocracy -- only matters if a partner likes you. If you are liked, then you are safe and regularly promoted (regardless of your skill)
    - Because the skills are decaying and the need to stay relevant is strong - the environment tends to be very fearful. People are scared - so scared.
    - Even though the company really wants to stand for integrity - this environment of fear is driving very bad behavior- Google KPMG South Africa or KPMG PCAOB. Everyone acts SO SHOCKED every time this happens, but it is because the company is so darn scared it is driving partners to behave badly. Don't get me wrong, there are some great partners and if you are assigned to one of the good ones, you will probably enjoy your time at KPMG - a lot. However, there is no way to enjoy the company if you are assigned to one of the bad ones. Honestly, I have met more bad than good.

    Advice to Management

Judiciously prune your partner ranks. You should ask for employee reviews of partners so you get some insight.

Executives don't look out for their teams

Promote tax leaders from within the Chicago office versus transferring them from other offices

I worked at KPMG (More than 5 years)

    Pros

KPMG NYFS gives you a great name on your resume, great exposure with different client

    Cons

Horrible hours, management doesn't care about turnover

    Advice to Management

I worked at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people, fun, friendly, positive environment.

    Opportunities for growth, learning, development.

You will build relationships for life.

    Cons

Hours can be tough depending on many variables such as your expectations, what group you are in, the clients you get staffed on, etc. It's big 4 so expect to work long hours; the pros come with a price and it is worth it.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent work like balance. Won't be compelled to stay beyond work hours or work during vacation or weekends
My team is excellent. Very professional.
Very supportive policy of donating vacation for family member bereavement
New clean workplace. Super nice views and fixed cubicle
25 days PTO and year end office closure
All in all a great place to settle down

    Cons

Lack of cross functional team support for technology.
    No true agile process
Secondary treatment of BPG group such as lower pay rise, no phone benefit, absence of travel perks
Management isn't supportive of work from home and considers it to be such a big deal. This is so bemusing!
If you are an immigrant do know only BPG department files h1 but they don't do premium(1600$ on your head fellows) and they wait till the last to file Green card.
No parking allowance, only 50% public transport reimbursement
There is an indirect expectation that you need to be in the office by 9 atleast.
Health insurance is insanely high(it's double the times than other big 4). Get the rates before accepting offer folks! Only ignorant people rate health benefit as excellent here. It's below par considering the cost.

    Advice to Management

Need more collaborative development bringing teams together and making teams smaller
Offshore support is very difficult to manage and costs a lot too because of the regressive development
    Lower health insurance rates
    More technology department training.
All in all If the above few cons is fixed it's a great place to work and I can assure you will have great talents be part of your team but if only..

    Cons

Often you work long hours even in the slower months because you help out on different clients that have different busy seasons.

    Advice to Management

Emphasize more the work life balance during the off months.

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's all depends on the team, when are you assigned to a team with a good senior or a manager, your life will be much easier. Otherwise, your everyday life in KPMG is miserable.
The firm offers a lot of trainings which if you want to learn, you can always improve yourself. However, when you get off from work 2am in the morning, most of time you are exhausted.
25 days PTO is definitely a big bonus.

    Cons

Too much bureaucracy in the firm. They say your PML is supposed to be your side, unfortunately, I didn't feel the support at all.
