I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good learning, compensation, development, smart people, and the firm does genuinely seem to care about its employees.

    Cons

Work life balance can be bad. Some groups (Deal Advisory) are very cliquey, which can influence your career advancement.

    Cons

Long hours and extended travel make work/life balance challenging

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

KPMG has an innate ability to find amazing people, who make coming to work a pleasure. We are exposed to some of the world's largest institutions and get a unique experience to see into industry while remaining outside.

    Cons

Compensation, bonuses, and performance reviews are becoming more and more opaque. Recent business and billing challengers seem to affect staff-level professionals with seemingly little consequences to leadership, who have the responsibility to be in the market and win work.

    Advice to Management

When time are good, the wealth feels shared. When times are less good, the pain should also feel equally shared.

I have been working at KPMG as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Stable company, Good management. I really enjoy working at KPMG, it is a great place to have a career. Many of the people I work for are great.

    Cons

Conservative technology. It's very easy to get lost in the shuffle of how things are done. Because it is such a large company with many bottlenecks, change happens slowly.

    Advice to Management

I would advise management to get organized. I feel like there are many spaces for improvements and there are inefficiencies throughout the different departments.

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Flexibility with Schedule
    Co-workers and great
    Learning environment/training is good
    Pay is good
    Benefits are good

    Cons

    Too much "busy" work
    Very ridged management structure
    Too political
Very critical (need to find performance issues in everyone)
Managing directors and partners are often too disconnected from day to day project work

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

5 weeks vacation and flexible work hours for high performers

    Cons

Way too much emphasis on off-shoring all the work. Managers pressure you to complete the minimally acceptable quality work as cheap as possible.

I worked at KPMG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of fun and hard-working people, lots of celebrations and happy hours. A great way to learn a ton, having worked for KPMG makes you very marketable.

    Cons

Long hours and low salaries. Have to work weekends during busy season, which never ends. Not enough guidance provided by those whom you report directly ( some of them don't seem to know enough and tried to avoid answering questions).

  10. "Great place to start a career"

I worked at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Awesome training, highly motivated people, open to transfers within the company (location or practice), culture of coaching younger staff, clear path of progression within the company for younger employees

    Cons

Long hours, salary could be better in comparison with other big four, not all managers are necessarily "management material", many of the people there are perfectionists to the point where it can sometimes be detrimental to the overall goal of engagements.

    Advice to Management

Don't promote everyone to manager who is a good senior associate, not all "producers" have the soft skills necessary to be successful.
