I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great client exposure, travel opportunities right away, great people to work with, industry leader in risk consulting

    Cons

Work life balance, average compensation for workload, inconsistent growth projections and targets make bonuses and raises highly volatile and inconsistent

    Advice to Management

inconsistent growth projections and targets make bonuses and raises highly volatile and unpredictable. Would appreciate more realistic targets to ensure groups achievements not overshadowed by ridiculous growth targets. 15% growth is lucrative and should be rewarded, even when goal was 16%.

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Intellectually challenging, get to work with different companies in different industries, be part of a team, set career path for promotions, great benefits,

    Cons

It's great to start off your career but in order to stay long term you have to be willing to give up any control you have over your time whatsoever. Doesn't matter how quickly you get your work done, you won't be able to go home at a normal hour. For some employees the hours are better in the summer but you can also be put on an engagement with a summer year-end which means your busy season can last for most of the year- which equates to 55-95 hour work weeks. It's just not healthy to have to sit at a computer for that many hours a day for 6+ months out of the year. Also gets in the way of time with family, having a social life, love life, etc. Also some offices have a lot of politics and favoritism is given to people with the right connections.

    Advice to Management

Enforce work life balance. Don't allow offices to schedule employees on busy season clients year-round. 3 months out of the year might be manageable but any longer than that and even your high performing employees will get burnt out and unhappy and quit.

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Lots of growth and opportunities to work on big client engagements.

    Cons

Lack of vision from leadership, young partners; partner track is more about energy and dedication than it is about technical competency or ability to lead and manage.

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I love the people I work with and the firm hosts a lot of events for networking within the office as well as events to support the surrounding community. Great place to learn and find great mentors. Promotions every year. Opportunities to manage people early in your career.

    Cons

Significant hours during certain parts of the year. Also, if you get stuck on a team that you don't like, work can be miserable.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing since it works. If you wanted to keep people around longer, maybe increase salaries. Not sure if that would work with the business model hierarchy though.

    Pros

People are nice (to your face), growing

    Cons

Extremely hierarchical, very partner centric (partners only are concerned with their own well being), pay is below market value

    Advice to Management

Care more about the employees and not just your own book of business.
