I have been working at KVH Co. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Not many employees or customers are left. So odds are you can just show up and collect a paycheck without actually having to do anything. Some employees are even running their own businesses from their office. Pretty cool setup honestly.

    Cons

It boring sitting around the office with nothing to do sometimes. Occasionally, the phone rings and I have to talk to someone, which is annoying because I usually have to stop playing my video games and do something.

    Advice to Management

Update your resumes and start interviewing.

I have been working at KVH Co. full-time

    Pros

Merger with Colt gives the company necessary scale to do things in a big way and compete better in Asia. It also gives them access to capital to better execute on their business plan.

The company generally pays well rather to other companies in the market.

    Cons

Organisation is in total flux as Colt Asia (KVH) integrates with Colt Europe. Morale is bottoming out, good staff are leaving, and there is no direction from the top on what's happening or where things are headed. It's a tough environment to work in; hopefully all of the good people and veterans don't leave in the process.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to realise that they cannot keep cutting staff and expect the rest of the company to continue working as if nothing is happening.

    Cons

Had a hard time to learn different testers for Hikari testing.

I worked at KVH Co. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    * If you are an existing "special" friend of the CEO, you will be looked after
    * If you are a telco genius, you might be safe (but keep your resume updated)
    * If you want to exist in the Twilight Zone, you will fit in well..
    * Management not related to the CEO are generally OK, they just haven't got a clue what they are doing, nor can they stand up for the staff under them due to the dictatorship.

    Cons

    * After wrapping your mind into believing you are in a Telco twilight zone of years long past, you might be able to stay in your job - but you must be quiet and hide when anyone approaches your vacant floor. You may become schizophrenic.
    * You may need psychological treatment after a while or lots of drinking at Pronto with the "club of the disenfranchised".

    Advice to Management

Fire yourselves before you sink this ship and move onto the next destruction site that is yet to know they need "the rabid band of slayers who can not hold a sword due to having very soft hands and limp wrists".

I worked at KVH Co. as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Good salary if you can negotiate that at the beginning

    Cons

You will not be doing the job you interview for, and it's difficult to get raises or improve. Power harassment, overwork that is not written into your contract and not women-friendly. For a place that is supposed to provide cutting edge technology, they are incredibly behind in implementing it in-house

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees and nurture them so you can nurture a profitable company

I have been working at KVH Co. as a contractor

    Pros

    - Many people are interested in seeing the company grow and succeed and are wiling to dedicate their time and energy to see this happen.

    - Potential for company growth is high if you're willing to stay with the company and invest your time

    - Moving around internally to other teams is pretty common and encouraged

    Cons

    - Negotiate your salary well because if you're not senior management, you will be stuck at your entry salary unless (or until) you become senior management

    - For an international corporation, it is mainly Japanese, and run in a Japanese style that is not very flexible

    - HR is useless - don't depend on them to help with anything unless you're coming in at a senior level

    Advice to Management

    -Shape up HR
-Flexibility and creativity should not be dependent on department, but a company-wide goal.

    Pros

Kvh has many nationalities of people working for company

    Cons

Senior managers are all male and no females allowed to get senior jobs. Recently lots of females fired for no good reason, sometimes because CEO does not like them. CEO overheard saying lots of horrible things about female staff. Females staff called little women by CEO.

    Advice to Management

    No advice as won't care

I worked at KVH Co. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The salary is good if that is all you care about.

    Cons

They have fired staff without proper justification such as company restructuring or poor performance.
No training on important topics even when it is obviously required and it has been requested.
Time management is bad e.g. very few people have agendas at meetings.
The information is spread over 3 different repositories making it very difficult for anyone new to find the latest relevant information. Waste time wading through a lot of data and therefore inefficient, but nothing is done to rectify the situation.
Very slow to implement products or services which leads to frustration.
There is a stand-off between the Systems and Technology division and Sales which makes life working there very tedious.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees
    Provide the training they need
Make sure anyone coming from outside the telecoms business is taken care of.
