Perfect Workplace for People Not Interested in Making Actual Games
Nov 8, 2013 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Great perks such as catered meals, compensated health benefit packages - Good work / life balance - Great opportunities for people with little to no pride in their work, few applicable skills and that enjoy doing the bare minimum - Good entry into 'games industry' for someone that has never worked in games, especially if you come from a banking / monetary analyst background
Cons
- It's the "games industry", by no means a real example of working in a real game company - Plagued by inexperienced and inept managerial staff - Company does not practice nor encourage the core values it communicates to employees - Promotion and career advancement is based on politics instead of proven aptitude and skill set - Managers don't understand strength of staff and their skills and often slot them into roles their ill-suited - Little to no growth opportunity beyond entry / mid-level positions - Integrity and quality are far too often sacrificed in order to meet "the bottom line" - Game Designers are often staffed with no experience eBanking analysts - Those that question the status quo often see their employment terminated - Great opportunities for people with little to no pride in their work, few applicable skills and that enjoy doing the bare minimum

Cons
- Work/Life balance can be touchy - deadlines and expectations can change very quickly - Leadership are not trained well enough - Lack of vision which comes down to lack of proper management - Communication could afford to improve - Long durations of change at times causing lacks in stability - Senior leadership play favorites

Work/Life balance is amazing! And management really cares about your well being.

The company really cares about its people. They are fairly flexible with hours and have a really positive work culture. The projects they work on are fun and interesting to be a part of. Good work life balance.
Cons
I can't think of any serious cons.

Great Place to Work
May 4, 2017 - Anonymous Employee in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Free food and snacks. Good work life balance. Great parties
Cons
Some of the games produced weren't great
- Former Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
_Free lunches, snacks everywhere, good people. Worked in the art department and the majority of people there are very knowledgeable about their work. Most of those people are no longer there though since there was a large layoff recently. Great opportunity to work independently without any type of micro management. Great work/life balance ; only worked overtime a handful of times.
Cons
Felt a bit disorganized at times; sometimes tasks came from out of nowhere and had to push back on things because of this. At times there were a few communication issues which only helped push back deadlines. Layoffs every quarter it seems.
- Current Employee★★★★★
Great Company that respects it's employees
Feb 28, 2012 - Senior Software Engineer in Redwood City, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Free Lunches, free drinks (large variety), free snacks, fruits Occasionally free dinners, if you work late Lower Politics then industry average Laid off workers get great layoff package (2 months plus) Dynamic workplace Great equipment (computers, monitors, office space, chairs, efficient IT) Decent work to life balancelancelance for most employees Gym membership Company makes great efforts to keep employees as happy as possible Courageous attitude towards competing in a competitive marketplace Make and play fun Strategic Games Lots of feedback allowed from employees to managers and upper management
Cons
Lately, higher employee turn over leads to lower morale Fairly Fast paced "Unlimited Vacation time" is false advertising (it's more like 2-3 weeks, which is the industry average) Not all employees get good work to life balance starting to show small signs of office space culture ( using things like Rypple, etc) Company made a few errors in strategy: flaws in business model led to lowered performance
