      Pros

Working for Kaiser guarantees great benefits regardless if you are union or non-union.

      Cons

Depending on who you know can determine your opportunities for growth, not your experience.

There is a reason why it is so competitive to get in

      Pros

Great benefits. Pay almost zero for health insurance. Pay that rivals N. California companies despite being in lower cost of living. Excellent work life balance. Great coworkers. Lots of opportunity to go to and from IT to Permanente Medical Group side. Opportunity to go upward or lateral if you find something that interests you. Mission statement that you can get behind. There is a purpose in the work that you do and they do a great job in conveying it.

      Cons

Not immune to the fluctuation of the market and government regulations which means tightening the budget. Layoffs and terminations were almost unheard of a few years ago. It happens more frequently.

      Great Benefits and Culture

      Pros

Kaiser Permanente is an organization that cares about people - those that receive healthcare from them, those that work for them, and those that live in the communities where Kaiser is located. And the benefits are great, including paid time off and a pension. It is an organization you can be proud of working for.

      Cons

There is a lot of bureaucracy and processes can feel very slow moving.
