I have been working at Kalamazoo College part-time

    Pros

    Great way to review fundamentals.
    Helping students always feels great.
You get to know more students.

    Cons

    Minimum wage.
Takes a lot of energy and brain power.

    Advice to Management

Teaching assistant requires more energy and skills than other on-campus jobs.
Therefore, we should be paid accordingly.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Kalamazoo College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Most staff are very friendly and easy to work with.
-Pretty good benefits, lots of paid time off.
-Relaxed environment most of the time.

    Cons

-Starting pay is fair but there is no opportunity for merit raises and the yearly raises are based solely on budget allowance and not performance.
-Some team members don't always pull their weight.
-Some of the Faculty are super entitled and have a very "know it all" attitude. Sometimes down right rude.
-Not much room for upward mobility.

    Advice to Management

    - Reward the workers that are doing the best work and don't allow team members to coast to a free pay check.
    - Say "no" to faculty when they are being unreasonable.

I worked at Kalamazoo College (Less than a year)

    Pros

Director of CCPD is passionate and committed to making your experience meaningful and worthwhile.
Always engaged in new initiatives to improve the CCPD.
Work often with full-time CCPD staff.
Peer-to-peer counseling is mutually rewarding for Career Associate and student.
Learn "insider" information regarding job search, resume processes that are useful in future business settings and for personal knowledge.

    Cons

    Minimum wage pay.
Needs more comprehensive/hands-on training in order to fully prepare Career Associates to help students best. As of 2015, I believe they are working to improve this.

I have been working at Kalamazoo College (Less than a year)

    Pros

My office has a flexible and relaxed atmosphere. Helping students succeed is always fulfilling. The campus is beautiful.

    Cons

Each employee carries the responsibility of at least 3 full-time employees. The salary increases are the same across the board and do not meet the cost of living increase each year.

  10. "Great School"

    Pros

I learned a lot from my advisor. A wonderful set of advisors and fellow interns to work with. I would definitely recommend,

    Cons

    I can't think of a con.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, Keep doing what you are doing, Keep doing what you are doing, Good job!
