I worked at Kampgrounds of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good place to work in a smaller city. Fun atmosphere and good coworkers. The Christmas party was fun, but it seems they were always trying more and more to take the fun out of there.

    Cons

Very unorganized, no leadership and felt like my boss would take all credit for my job being well done. Didn't mind the work but had no respect for higher ups. T

    Advice to Management

Provide some fun perks, it's ok to enjoy your place of employment.

I worked at Kampgrounds of America full-time

    Pros

Living in the campsite in your own RV, free breakfast every morning, working with amazing people, campers are very enjoyable to work with because the grounds are great

    Cons

Don't get to do much on the weekends because that is the busiest time of the week. Sometimes there are campers that can be very unruly and hard to accommodate

    Advice to Management

Have alternating weekends s for employees to have time to do all the fun things in the valley on the weekends. Hire more young people as the job can be difficult for older retired people with health issues. Give raises to those who work hard and come back year after year to show you appreciate their loyalty

I worked at Kampgrounds of America full-time

    Pros

Coworkers were fun and friendly. Leading activities for families was very rewarding.

    Cons

Nepotism in management reigns at this KOA and it hinders development of programs. Some employees get special treatment while others are left to pick up the slack.

I worked at Kampgrounds of America full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Easy registration system. Working with a variety of people and personalities, Loved the campers and listening to their stories. Loved the atmosphere.

    Cons

Franchises, Difference in owners, some will trust you know what your doing and others Will micromanage you to death, Only wanting you there to handle the dirty work while they take all the glory. Hiring good employees and not have the authority to pay them what they are worth. Living on site equated to be on duty 24/7 to campers and employee's alike. Would be a Work Kamper but not go back into managing

    Advice to Management

More advice to franchise owners: We were constantly told to keep employee salaries low. Owners need to understand happy employees make their campground. They need to pay them well and give them the hours.

I have been working at Kampgrounds of America part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Meeting so many unique tourists! Meeting other work-campers from across the country. Working at a campground is fun in general.

    Cons

Low pay rate. Complicated computer system. Supervisor or Assistant Manager positions do not offer much of anything-or at least not at the koa I worked at.

    Advice to Management

Higher pay. Supervisors an Assistant Managers do not want to only do inventory. We want to learn "management" responsibilities. Let us help you more with your responsibilities!
