I worked at Kanakuk part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The leadership at Kanakuk is awesome and the facilities are great at K1. I am very thankful for my summer here.

    Cons

It is exhausting. A full time job, but so worth it. The Branson humidity is a little rough. Staff training week is super long.

    Advice to Management

Maybe make staff training a little shorter. Other than that, you guys are doing a great thing serving Jesus with those kiddos!

I worked at Kanakuk full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Please do not work here.

    Cons

I was a summer camp counselor for the Family K-Kwai camp. I was miserable the entire time and felt like I was living in a cult. This camp is extremely dogmatic, using scare tactics to push their homophobic anti science agenda. I deeply regret that I ever worked for an organization like Kanakuk.

    Pros

Great summer experience working alongside many other college students promoting ministry. There are many different camp locations and they put you where they think you will fit best.

    Cons

The pay is not great, but you shouldn't want this job for its salary. You're a camp counselor so you sleep in cabins on rickety metal frame bunk beds, but you're so exhausted at the end of the day you hardly ever notice!

I worked at Kanakuk full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

An incredible environment focused fully on Christ, have the ability to make great connections, surrounded by amazing people, and you will have no expenses throughout the summer.

    Cons

Pay is not that great (but worth the experience). You will work around 14 hours a day, however, it is worth it.

    Pros

This is by far the best way to spend your summers. Camp culture is fantastic; leadership truly cares about you. You will make amazing, life-long relationships with both kids and fellow staffers.

    Cons

Long hours of course . . . you can get really exhausted, but the positives far outweigh the negatives!

I worked at Kanakuk part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Kanakuk is a great Christian environment full of college staff and kids that want to have fun and grow in their faith together. You are guaranteed to make friendships that will last well beyond a summer and have experiences that you would be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.

    Cons

Long work days and not a lot of sleep. Pay isn't the best, but that's not the reason you should want to work at kamp.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

    Pros

Great way to serve in kids ministry

    Cons

The pay isn't great, but if you're in this field at all, you're not in it for the pay.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!
