I worked at Kane's Furniture full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Training! Awesome paid training

    Management! Understanding and caring

Values! The company does back you, if you deserve it!

Just like any other place of employment you have differences in opinion. I feel like Kanes cared about me and my time there. They called after training several times to insure I didn't have any questions about my duties. They train you very well. And make sure you understand everything and if you don't that's your own fault for not asking the proper questions! And paying attention to probably the best trainer I've ever come across!!

    Cons

Big store. You walk a lot.

    Advice to Management

Stay awesome! I came from Dale Mabry and all the managers were very intelligent and inspiring!

    Pros

Decent pay. Easy 50k a year job if you show up everyday

    Cons

Scheduling. Management has their favorites and treats them differently than others. If they see potential in a driver, they'll try to help them bring it out. Otherwise they don't really know your there.

I worked at Kane's Furniture full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity is there to make good money $65,000 + if you can sell and don't mind the unpleasant atmosphere. Tier commission structure drives you to sell more and make more. Computer system is very user friendly. Tags are easy to read, prices are competitive. Furniture is easy to sell. The store is customer friendly with appealing room displays.

    Cons

Terrible managers lacking in their ability to actually manage and support. Way too much turnover; loss of good salespeople due to the negative atmosphere and lack of professionalism. New employees receive 1 week computer training/1 week sales training and are then thrown into a sink or swim situation without managers assistance in the store. However, I do believe they are trying to improve training at the store level. Labeled a "non-split" company however that is very gray due to the salesperson's ability to split the sale if they choose and the ability managers have to enforce their personal rules at the store level and split sales whenever they decide it should happen. This creates confusion, hostility, and unnecessary issues and misunderstandings on the sales floor. Rules should be black and white in order to help eliminate issues. 'Rays promotion' during baseball season leaves the commission salesperson handing out food coupons as their up, all day long, whenever Rays get 10 strikeouts. Rather than being allowed to focus on selling furniture be prepared to work free some days waiting in the line up only to take Rays tickets and pass out coupons as your up. Midnight sales are required even though the store generally dies after 8pm, you sit there until 12 midnight. Often 3 sales running at once with several different finance and promo code options and mailers with different sale options than the current public running sale. If there are any errors in pricing, sale or finance terms applied, you will either be charged and it will come out of your check or you will lose the commission on that sale completely.

    Advice to Management

Work to create a more enjoyable, pleasant work environment. Understand you are there to support the sales people, Treat them as if you appreciate their efforts rather than making them feel as if they are lucky to be working for you. Don't fear the top seller to the point they are allowed to follow a different set of rules than everyone else. Learn how to get involved and help to resolve conflicts rather than avoid the issues that are inevitable in this type of environment.

    Pros

Great co-workers, customers' are loyal with repeat sales, strong customer service dept. in store. The customer service dept. will go out of their way to make sure the customer is pleased. The sales people and customer service folks go above and beyond.

    Cons

Management is abusive to women and men. They berate and belittle the sales force, and customer service representatives. 4% commission. You cannot make a living working a Kanes' Furniture. Management lies about workman compensation issues.

    Advice to Management

    New Management is needed. ASAP.

Not always high management is nice to employees, making employees super stressed and miserable sometimes. Salary is not good and hours fluctuate too much

    Advice to Management

Don't stress the employees so much. employees feel like work is a timebomb sometimes because some managers are always cranky and in bad mood and stress the employees. that is humiliating and diminishing
