I worked at Kangaroo Express part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You have independence, they expect you to do everything by yourself.

    Cons

Depending on the shift and location, the clientele can be challenging. Not full time.

    Advice to Management

This company should be more organized. Better opportunities should be offered.

I worked at Kangaroo Express (Less than a year)

    Pros

When the hot food was too old to sell, you could eat it if you wanted. It wasn't always very appetizing, but it was free food. Also, a lot of the people working there are either degenerate, or they just don't care; so finding promotions would be very easy for the right person.

    Cons

I expected the pay to be higher. Working at a gas station requires a certain amount of responsibility because you're working alone a lot of the time. $8.35/hr is just not enough. Unless you're a manager, you will not get full time hours. When I left, I was getting about 22 hours a week. A lot of your coworkers will hate every minute of being there, and outwardly show it. If you've been a CSR for Kangaroo Express for longer than six months, chances are you are jaded and don't care much anymore.

    Advice to Management

    Consider full time CSR positions.

    Cons

To me there was no down sides I just work my job do what it takes to make the job fun.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up good work.

I worked at Kangaroo Express part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Lots of "regulars"
    Customer Service Experience
Coworkers were friendly and helpful to new employees
Easy to lose weight while working here due to continuous activity
Management and co-workers were very open to new strategies and organization

    Cons

    Difficult sometimes drunk customers
Little to no accommodations for disabled employees
    Very fast paced
Short breaks, if any breaks at all
Management paid no attention to and/or even praised employees with seniority that were doing sub-par work

    Advice to Management

While working at Kangaroo Express I found myself teaching employees that had been there far longer than I simple tasks after only being introduced into the workplace for a week or two. There needs to be some sort of system for monitoring the performance and job knowledge of employees throughout their entire time working there. As a new crew member I had to pick up slack from older employees who weren't as closely monitored and got blamed for a lot of their mistakes just because I was new at the job.

I have been working at Kangaroo Express full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A company where you can make an impact, set your own hours and lead your own team. Kangaroo express beleives in promoting from within and helping their employees grow.

    Cons

Managers are on call 24 hours a day. Hiring to staff stores can be difficult due to the parameters you have to work within.

I have been working at Kangaroo Express part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Love working third shift, and the job gives you some mild authority (Calling the cops to have problematic people removed, ect.) It's quieter than day shifts, and I work with a small, tight-knit group. The work is easy to learn, but hard to accomplish in only 6-8 hours.

    Cons

As a third shifter, I work as the only person in the store for 8 hours. They ask far too much of us for just one person- even with only 300-400 customers per night. I have safety concerns for myself as well as my customers, and the amount of side work they demand done for our small staff (7 people- we're a 25 pump store!) is insane. We're not really allowed to overlap hours because our DM says we can't go over labor hours, and it leaves us scrambling and stressed out every day.

    Advice to Management

We need more hours! And not just for our individual paychecks. We need more hours to overlap and have more than one person on per shift. It's not safe, it's not right, and it's NOT efficient.
