I have been working at Kansas City Life (More than 5 years)

    Pros

People are friendly and company prompts educational growth. Cafeteria on sight with various food options.

    Cons

Not an equal opportunity environment. Management should learn the concept of managing and not bossing.

    Advice to Management

If you have open door policy remember to have an open mind. Individuals should not be judged because of personal opinion, but because of personal performance.

I worked at Kansas City Life full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work day is 8:00-4:15 and pay is above average. Cafeteria is decent and security is friendly. Can think of no other pros.

    Cons

Outdated systems, operations models and overall mindset from management. Employees gossip in the open. Benefits are severely outdated. PTO is almost non existent

    Advice to Management

Figure out how the company will move forward going into the next ten yrs. Current strategy for sure will age the company out of business.

"Not a Good Outlook for this Company"

    Pros

Located in a convenient location in the city with 24-hour secures parking lot and building. Cafeteria on site and fairly decent benefits.

    Cons

The company is antiquated with computer systems and way the company is run. All top management is male and family. The company is stuck in a time warp. You have to wait 6 months before you have any time off. Non-flexible shift. No telecommuting. Corporate casual attire-never a jeans day or tennis shoe day is allowed. Very stuffy environment.

    Advice to Management

Upgrade systems and processes. Too much is done on paper. Allow more flexibility and time off. Promote a growing environment where more than just the family can be in lead positions.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Kansas City Life full-time

    Pros

Bright lights, a compulsive glut of security cameras, untrained management.

    Cons

Untrained management, pot holes, exploding sewage pipes, classism at the core.

    Advice to Management

This company's culture is begging for a union, by the way your Human Resources Director and various managers go about their business. Why should you run your business so poorly that good, stable, and productive employees start considering the benefits of a union or a lawsuit?

    Pros

Off street parking - that is the only pro here - can think of NO other Pro's with this company living in the dark ages.

    Cons

Glorified Kindergarten! Management top heavy, play favorites - if you are one of the few chosen favorites you can get away with ANYTHING - if not - micromanaged to death, favoritism runs high here. Seriously- don't bother - pass on by! Management and HR here all about protecting the managers - you complain you are written up or fired- Beware!

I worked at Kansas City Life full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The cafeteria and ticket opportunities.

    Cons

Management does nothing but bully and harass you non stop. They terminate you for reasons that are wrong. If you aren't a man you cannot advance at this place. Transferring departments is a nightmare. Favoritism is disgustingly popular and executed. Probably the worse place for a woman to work.

    Advice to Management

Fire them all and hire new management with people who actually deserve it.

    Pros

big building, made you feel comfortable, professional, training is hands on rather than being on a cpu for 2 weeks and still not knowing what you're doing at the end.

    Cons

Don't know any yet. But so far so good !!

    Pros

Decent Benefits, Good People, Some perks. Location isn't great, but it could be worse. The building is somewhat secure. The atmosphere is friendly and cordial. The is very little time pressure as long as the job is done right.

    Cons

Older technology, Older building, Older thinking. They are on outdated and antiquated technology for the major systems, which they've built a giant set of workarounds and kluge apps to help limp along.

    Advice to Management

Hire a new CEO, and give him/her the power to do what is necessary to update the company and it's business plan. The only plan they have now is extinction.
