I worked at Kaplan University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, decent pay, good coworkers.

    Cons

Culture has changed for the negative. Stressful. Pressure on advisors to get enrollments.

    Advice to Management

too much pressure from on top only makes bad lower level managers and unhappy employees.

    Pros

When Kaplan is working, it is decent employer though the pay like all adjunct faculty gigs is poor and benefits non existent.

    Cons

They haven't contacted me in ayear to teach a class, this happened once before, yet they seem to expect one to waste hours and hours of uncompensated time on training and staff meetings.

    Advice to Management

Quit nickel and diming adjunct faculty.

I worked at Kaplan University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Kaplan has great benefits and pays well in most positions.

    Cons

Kaplan does not like management with a new or different opinion. Layoffs are understandable for budget reasons but the chosen employees to be laid off should be evaluated at different levels.

I have been working at Kaplan University part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Been here for 8 years and love working here. Love the students and colleagues

    Cons

This year is the first time in all that time where I do not have courses to teach for the first two terms of the year. The department chair plays favorites.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites with the instructors. They all have a great deal to offer.

I have been working at Kaplan University full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay is higher then average, decent benefits including free tuition for employees.

    Cons

Low employee morale, no opportunity for advancement, micromanagement is a huge problem, inconsistent training, there is also a huge disconnect in management and culture between campuses and Kaplan University as a whole.

    Advice to Management

Focus on employee morale and creating an environment where people want to succeed rather then focusing on punishments and micromanaging.

I worked at Kaplan University (More than a year)

    Pros

There are good people working there that care about the students. Casual dress code.

    Cons

This is a business, it's all about numbers not the students. You won't enjoy people students in more debt.

I worked at Kaplan University (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, training is good, various work schedules to choose from.

    Cons

They do not promote from within, the pay increase each year is at most 3%, depending on who your manager is, they may not have your back or provide your good ideas to upper management.

    Advice to Management

Have employees evaluate the managers as the managers evaluate the employees.

I worked at Kaplan University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There isnt really any benefit. Company only cares about themselves. Laid off people in 2010, but choose to keep managers they hired.

    Cons

Company doesn't look out for its best people. They laid off some of the best hires the ever had and kept the dead weight because of tenure.
