I worked at Katz, Sapper & Miller, LLP full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Awesome people, great benefits, fantastic team atmosphere. Best place I have worked.

    Cons

It is public accounting, so there are a lot of hours expected. That being said, the hours are less than other public accounting firms.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your experience at KSM. While the hours can be longer at certain times of the year, we work hard to provide conveniences, flexibility, and a great environment to make it a little easier. We appreciate all of the positive comments.

I worked at Katz, Sapper & Miller, LLP full-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule because Management is clueless, fancy office downtown, have access to Indy perks that other firms don’t offer (assuming you can get them).

    Cons

If you don’t fit their “model” the ownership will actively try to prevent you from getting a job after they let you go, going so far as to call employers and tell them not to hire you. The company on the whole has zero interest in helping clients unless they can bill them enough, basically everything that is wrong with big CPA firms wrapped up in a regional name and made to look like they might care. Pros

Free Parking Free Snacks Majority of employees are good to work with Pay is better than competitors in public accounting

    Cons

Long hours during busy season Busy season meals can be below par at times Culture is changing - more employees get blindsided and fired with no warning

    Advice to Management

Still one of the best public accounting firms in town. No firm is perfect and they do the best they can with resources available.

I have been working at Katz, Sapper & Miller, LLP full-time for less than a year

    Pros

KSM offers flexible scheduling with ample PTO and work from home options. The office is always stashed full of snacks and drinks, and there are many opportunities to stay engaged with coworkers outside of the office (rec leagues, corporate challenge, etc.) KSM truly cares about the community and encourages its people to do the same, while taking great care of its own people. It is public accounting, so you will work a...

I worked at Katz, Sapper & Miller, LLP full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Katz, Sapper and Miller truly values its employees. There are multiple ways they have engaged their employees outside of their basic job tasks. Their clients are diverse and I was able to get an understanding of multiple different industries and eventually decide what best suited my interests and start to specialize.

    Cons

As with any company, there are a few people you will not get along with, but I wouldn't necessarily consider that a specific con for Katz, Sapper, and Miller. I eventually decided to leave due to the hours, which understandably is part of the public accounting job description.

I have been working at Katz, Sapper & Miller, LLP full-time for less than a year

    Pros

KSM is based on an extremely entrepreneurial framework. All employees are encourage to share new findings and method of practice in the industry. The firm also focuses highly on employee satisfaction, following the mantra of happy employees = happy clients. This is not something they just say to new recruits to get through the door. KSM has a wide variety of initiatives set in place to ensure that each employee has the...

    Cons

The only slight downside is most the clients are regional. If you are someone who loves to travel around the world, this firm's size is not for you. With that being said, the clients KSM do work with are amazing. You will still get a diverse group of industries with some national travel.
