I worked at Kean University full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

As a member of the state university system in New Jersey, Kean provided good salaries with excellent benefits. For many years it was an enjoyable and rewarding place to work.

    Cons

After a few scandals broke about the university administration, the atmosphere began to change; it was no longer an enjoyable place to work. I became embarrassed to tell people where I worked.

    Advice to Management

Dedicated and engaged faculty are important for students to receive the best education. The administration should respect and encourage the faculty to succeed; their success will be passed on to the students as a quality education.

    Pros

State job with a good salary and benefits. Professors are great. Location is close to all major highways and transportation.

    Cons

Some management were not qualified to be directors which made the job very hard for those employees that did know the job. Turn-around of employment is very high at this university.

    Pros

Very easy, just watch the pool and make sure nobody drowns. Lots of down time, which allows you to get a majority of your school work done.

    Cons

Biggest con is that if there aren't enough guards at the pool you may be on your watch shift for more than a couple of hours at a time and that can be immensely boring.
