    Cons

    Communication issues from upper
Paid less than big 4 counter parts

    Advice to Management

Fire upper management who have 10,000 complaints about them. It makes good employees leave when they see tat no one at the top cares if there boss is .

    Pros

They wen't from recruiting the best to recruiting anybody that applies. What happened / Why? I'm embarrassed by some of my co-workers around me.

    Cons

Co-workers that aren't there to work, never have worked, never should have graduated, never should have been hired. More contracts are going to be lost, sorry but true.

    Advice to Management

Invest in some recruiting / talent management / train your managers. Seriously!

I worked at Kearney & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Work/Life Balance great compare to other Accounting firms (audit)
    - Great place to start a audit career
    - Family feel environment
    - plenty of training opportunities and review course for certs such as CISA, FITSP, etc.

    Cons

    - Low Compensation, they try to sell you on the whole O.T. pay thing but O.T. varies a lot depending on the project/engagement, not to mention there is a lot of limitations to O.T. pay pass 40 hrs/week.
    - Major major growing pains, this company is growing at a very fast/high rate which is great but it just feels like they are hiring anyone with an accounting degree and/or non related accounting experience at this point.
    - Very low PTO compare to Big4

    Advice to Management

Focus on quality over quantity.... there might be staffing issues in the beginning but hiring incompetent or unqualified employees will not benefit the company at all, it just creates more issues and unnecessary work for others..

    I worked at Kearney & Company full-time

    Pros

Events – the company does a decent number of events for their employees (random poker tournaments, holiday party, golf tournament, intern events) which is good for employee morale.
Overtime Pay – they pay for all hours work or you can take comp time (if you are fortunate enough to get on a job that allows overtime)

    Cons

Compensation – they advertise that they pay overtime when recruiting college students because not many accounting firms pay overtime, but the chances for Overtime are very limited and if you end up on a job that isn’t working overtime, you are severely underpaid.
Overtime Pay – because they pay overtime, many employees have no sense of ugency trying to get work done. This results in projects over budget because people take the least efficient methods when completing work.
Staff – they are hiring pretty much anyone with a pulse. During on training, we were told that they look to hire “B” or “C” employees and that we need to make them into “A” employees. That doesn’t work and it shows. They also don’t seem to understand how to fire people who suck at their jobs. Instead they just don’t promote those employees.
Performance Evaluations/Raises – you can tell who the partners like because they get promoted quicker than anyone else and get higher raises, even if they don’t deserve it.
Work/Life Balance – the only way you get a decent work/life balance (which they claim they promote a good work/life balance) is if you are mediocre at your job. The people that do quality work are expected to work crazy hours and lose their work/life balance. There also tends to be an expectation that people work during their vacations.

    Advice to Management

Stop acting like a small business and shape up. Overtime pay doesn’t work and promotes less efficient work methods.
Hire people that are actually “A” employees. You can attract quality employees by paying a decent wage.

I have been working at Kearney & Company (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company to start with. You are given opportunities to work on many different types of engagements, and the company makes a great effort to train their staff.

    Cons

The staff training is good, however the management training could be improved. There were many people who had manager titles that struggled to effectively manage projects and people.

    Advice to Management

The company is growing rapidly, make sure that people are adequately prepared for the responsibilities given to them or teams will struggle.

I worked at Kearney & Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Overtime benefits insulate you from being worked like a dog
    Good coworkers
    Holiday party
    2-4% pay raises yearly

    Cons

Subcontractor on many jobs (Meaning your working for another contractor doing all the dirty work).
Not known outside of DC, and certainly not as recognizable as a big 4 firm.
Many mangers aren't CPAs (something you wont find at a big 4), which can be problematic if you're trying to get signed off.
Perks are slowly going away, and recent policy changes are designed to cut benefits.
Goal settings and other HR nonsense are a complete waste of time.

    Advice to Management

Keep your perks and start promoting people. I found a job at a big 4 firm in less than a week after being overlooked for promotions for several years.

I worked at Kearney & Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good atmosphere as far as work life balance. Several activities that are offered to all employees.

    Cons

I experienced a hostile work environment with a senior manager who had a history of that type of complaint. Took it to HR and met with all but never felt fully supported by management.

    Advice to Management

Better support of employees when there is a difficult situation. Take a pattern of behavior and complaints into consideration.
