I have been working at KeatsConnelly full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Employee benefits is one of the company's strengths, which has let to the company earning multiple awards for company culture, workplace flexibility and being named one of the Top Companies to Work for in Arizona.

    Cons

Currently, I do not see any cons to the benefits other than that management must be on guard not go overboard with the flexibility.

    Advice to Management

Be careful not to become too flexible, to the point where it harms the company.

I worked at KeatsConnelly full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Highly ethical. Client-centered. Fee-only. Senior management is accessible and knows that anyone, at any level of the firm, could have the next great idea. Management is humble; everyone makes mistakes. Opportunities to pursue new directions, new projects. Profit sharing (recall it's a fee only firm: no commissions). Compensation is salary plus modest bonuses (plus the potential for additional income for those with an ownership stake in the company)--this is a place to make a comfortable living. Big egos get checked at the door. No favoritism: no Old Boys Club and no "buddy" system. Management is demonstrably committed to quality control, process improvement, competitive compensation, client satisfaction, and a positive work environment. The firm is sensitive to the eternal quest for "work/life balance" but in a lean organization everyone has to pull hard and in the same direction most of the time. Consistent hard work is noticed and rewarded.

    Cons

The downside of a flat pyramidal structure and less than 50 employees: opportunities for job title advancement are limited. The focus at KeatsConnelly is on the Canada-US cross-border niche--if your geographic interest is elsewhere, you may feel constrained.

    Advice to Management

I have not been close to the company since my departure in late 2013 to serve as a full-time family caregiver. So I am reluctant to offer advice to management. Whatever they're doing wrong, I am sure they've been told what it is and they're working on making it better.

    Pros

Well established organization with opportunities for growth and learning, growing company, good vision for growth for its employees.

    Cons

Even though the company has been around for 26 years, it still operates like a start-up in many respects, which is a good opportunity for entrepreneurial thinkers, but can lead to constant growth and change.

    Advice to Management

I am a part of management.
