I have been working at Keener Communications full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Keener is really an amazing company to work for. I have been with the company over 10 years and truly love my job. The pay is great (the base pay was significantly increased about a year ago). Keener will pay 80% of your health insurance monthly premiums and the health insurance is fantastic. The management team truly cares about all team members and does their best to make everyone happy. Keener is family owned and the owners genuinely care about the company's success. The atmosphere is team oriented, casual, and friendly. Keener was recently announced as one of Richmond's Top Workplaces.

    Cons

This is not necessarily a con, but being a phone agent ("Director of Wow Experiences") is not for everyone. You have to truly love talking with and helping people. And the expectations are high and can take a while for newer team members to be able to meet all expectations, but the Supervisors do a great job helping each person have the tools they need to meet all benchmarks and to earn the weekly pay for performance bonus. Since the company is small, there is limited room to get promoted, but still possible (and the company is growing so more positions will open up). Lastly, working nights and weekends has to work with your schedule because almost all newer team members start with working those shifts.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing forward and continue doing what you are doing! And maybe get another Supervisor on the team as I can see the current Supervisors are very busy (but doing a great job).

I worked at Keener Communications part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is nothing positive about this company.

    Cons

excessive micromanagement, gossip throughout, training needs much attention, most supervisors are unprofessional, horrendous amount of turnover

    Advice to Management

Open your minds to change and see that what you are doing is NOT WORKING. Repetitive processes do not teach anyone anything.

I have been working at Keener Communications full-time

    Pros

    -Work from home ability
    -Reachable Performance based pay incentives
-Extra money for doing additional work (Training, ect.)
    -Awesome "Admin" Staff (Upper Management)
-Everyone gets along with each other
-"Open Door Policy" is ACTUALLY just that. Management listens to feedback

    Cons

    -It can get busy
-It isn't meant for people who don't work well under stress

    Advice to Management

I really don't have any advice. Of all the jobs I have had in my career thus far. This has been my most favorite place to work. All jobs have their issues, you can't escape that reality working with a diverse group of people. However, I can't imagine working for anyone else. The Keener's are really great people and truly, truly care about their employees.

    Pros

Love the family atmosphere and felt like part of the family from day one.

    Cons

Sometimes it is hard to go from one call to the next emotionally since we deal with from Death calls to Service Calls.

    Advice to Management

Only advice I would give is to be compassionate, understanding, helpful and knowledgeable for new and current employees to be able to depend on when needed.

    Pros

Very helpful call center managers. Relaxed environment. No sales. Focus is on service, service, service.

    Cons

Sometimes difficult to plan for family events because schedule can be inconsistent. Base pay is too low and with weekly performance bonuses it is ok at best. Can be stressful when not enough people on the phones.

    Advice to Management

Improve communication and training. Find a way to make weekly schedules more consistent. Get to know your employees better.
