I worked at Keller ISD full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Lots of programs for students, opportunity to support the community, and a district willing to purchase whatever is necessary to help the students.

    Cons

Lack of administrative support and clear policy when dealing with difficult parents. There was a literal rat infestation and problems with roaches.

    Advice to Management

Supporting teachers means listening to them and following through.

I worked at Keller ISD full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Keller as a district is working hard to improve and make positive changes for students and teachers. High Expectations and Training. Vacation and time off excellent and much needed. Values (intentions-goals) are worthy.

    Cons

Too much .. demanded of teaching staff allowing less and less time to actually plan, teach, grade. Constantly making changes to new and different programs, software, apps... Do believe that the Superintendent will get it right he is on the right track and cares about all involved at all levels.

    Advice to Management

Advice: Get rid of Principal at KHS is an absolutely terrible leader. Should not allow ultimate hire / fire to principals, that should go ultimately higher up at the district level, when a "boss" is biased and/or unable to make the right choices affecting individual staff and school. Mr. Nasra is all talk no real positive action or support. More concerned with his own agenda rather than that of the staff and students. Staff is scared of him as his agenda is to remove those that are not inline or question him. Thus keeping staff from doing and saying what needs to be said in order for real improvement to take place. A shame that what should be the districts number 1 school has become much less than that. Standards, expectations, "the bar" must be set at a level that not only can realistically be reached but the necessary support to do so must be there. Unfortunately this is currently lacking.
