    Pros

There are many good reasons to work for Kellogg's in the Research, Quality, Nutrition & Technology group: great people, diverse culture, and opportunities to broaden and gain experience in different functional areas and/or different food forms. I've had the chance to work in the Corporate R&D environment, relocate to a plant in the US for a couple of years, spend 6 months in China to startup a new plant, work in Marketing as a business partner with Supply Chain, work in Supply Chain management and R&D management, and head up our Quality Auditing team... very diverse opportunities!
New employees are set up with on-boarding coaches and have opportunities to travel with and learn from more experienced employees.
Employees have a variety of tools to help them grow their careers either down the technical path or the managerial path.
I really like the casual attire in the workplace where you dress for your day and jeans are acceptable.
Work hours are flexible and all you need to do is get alignment with your manager on how you would like to flex your hours. Working from a remote location is also possible for some jobs.
The "Summer Hours" benefit where you get Friday afternoons off after you put in a 40 hour work week is a big perk from mid March through early November.

    Cons

I wish the "Summer Hours" benefit lasted the entire year!

As we seek to stay competitive with the industry the company is making many changes. Some of these changes are more impactful to some parts of the company than others. For instance there are now limits on how much a traveler can spend on hotels and food per day of travel, where there were no general set limits in the past. Also, in the past cell phones were issued to many employees free of charge and now it is limited to fewer employees with international calling needs. Others who do a lot of US travel now receive monthly stipends to cover business use of their personal cell phone costs.

    Advice to Management

I understand the intent to keep corporate communications simple and brief, but it would benefit the employees to have more open and honest communications about the changes happening in the company and the "why" behind each change. The more we all understand the benefits to the company for making the change, the faster we can all buy in and get on board with making the change.

I worked at Kellogg Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent brands with a few gems among them. Reasonable investments in brand building. Category leverage.

    Cons

Stuck in the past and a cereal company at heart. Talks change but does so in minute increments

    Advice to Management

Set aside some risk funds for real, disruptive investment and grow something big by starting something small. Pursue an "enduring relevance" strategy and set up shop in CPG propositions that will matter for decades
