    Pros

Ability to grow within organization .
Put the customer first approach to service.
    Decision making autonomy.
Will promote internal candidates who produce.
    Competitive compensation.

    Cons

Customer base can be very demanding and at sometimes overbearing, overall manageable but can produce a stress level that could be too much for passive or under motivated individuals .

Can be a challenge to take time off in the busy season April-October.

I have been working at Kelly-Moore full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great co-workers, some freedom, benefits

    Cons

low end of pay scale, micromanaging, lack of support from upper management, over worked and underpaid

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees like they deserve, award the stores that actually make profit for the company, not the ones who make large dollars but no profit margin

I have been working at Kelly-Moore (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You have a path to grow if you have the desire and put in hard work. At times the growth can be quick if truly great at what you do. The company has had its downs, and at times has struggled, but I believe that even in the downs has always done its best to look after the employee and the customer. I have always been taken care of, and felt there are plenty of opportunities to advance. Great vacation benefit, decent insurance, 401K matching is coming back after some time of no matching.

    Cons

Communication hasn't always been the best but has gotten better. Especially when it comes to different departments within the company, or you trying to reach out. It can been hard to deal with stresses of customer order load at times if you don't manage it well.

    I worked at Kelly-Moore full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great for a summer job or a part time job during school.
    No experience is necessary.
They have you take online sessions to teach you about paint as well as other topics related to the company and industry.
    Flexible schedule.
A relatively simple job that any one can do if they are willing.
Can easily get promoted if you work hard and good at the job.
Can transfer between stores when there is an opening.
    You get your birthday off.

    Cons

Lackluster raises. You get a small (mine was minute) raise based on your performance. This happens once a year.
There was no collective goal between employees to be the best at the job.
Management can do better at pushing employees properly.
They can hire some sub par people.

    Advice to Management

    Be more proactive.
Be more involved with your employees.
    Hold everyone accountable.

    I worked at Kelly-Moore full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I worked for KM for nearly 10 years. I agree with the other reviewer. Everyone was like a family. Yes, you had the strict store managers and others were great. However, KM has been going through paint litigation for years due to asbestos in the paint. I don't think they are going to be able to survive it.

    Cons

They have been working with Sherwin Williams and firing old KM employees that have been there for years to make room for Sherwin Williams staff. The morale has plummeted and I foresee a complete takeover by SW.

    Advice to Management

Be truthful to your staff. Don't hide information from them and lie to them about what is really going on. If you don't want them there, give them an opportunity to find work elsewhere instead of just letting them go to make room for snobby SW people.... or better yet, just sell it to them since they have the control anyway.

    I worked at Kelly-Moore part-time

    Pros

The store its self its great to work in if you love helping people with colors.

    Cons

This location specifically, the manager harassed me all the time and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. When I told HR they didn't do anything to help me they actually didn't believe me and shrugged it off.
They also didn't have a very large staff so more was expected from lower status employees while the management sat in their office doing nothing.

    Advice to Management

Don't harass your employees and HR needs to get their game together with how the treat their employees as well.

    I worked at Kelly-Moore full-time

    Pros

Easy and fun. Fellow employees are all close, family like.

    Cons

Pay starts off ok, for young people. Kinda feels like if you have been there for long enough there's a pay top off. Or it could have been my last boss. It felt like he was thinking of any reason to not give me a pay increase. I had 4 managers while I was there and he was the only one that looked for a reason to be mad at employees and not give them good reviews.

    Advice to Management

Probably should take a good look at some of your store managers. Only out for themselves. In the few years I was with that last manager it probably was the worst work experience I've ever had. I saw him fire/had employees quit the most out of all the manager I've ever had. He even used homophobic language and would argue with contractors.
