I have been working at Kelton full-time

    Pros

Very flat organization with a high level of accountability across a lot of facets of any given project (so you learn a lot, particularly about managing internally as well as clients). Broad range of verticals/industries, so you get your feet wet and become a 'shallow expert' in a variety of areas. Great for someone in a mid-level where you've been trained in MR industry best practices elsewhere, but now want to make real...

    Cons

This place is NOT for the following types: a) Fledglings in the industry who are expecting standardized training (you won't get it here). b) People comfortable in anonymous roles/organizations where they get to leave promptly at 5pm each day and not ever take on major responsibility. (Note: They highly encourage folks to leave the office whenever one can and not stick around for the sake of doing so. That being said,...

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Kelton full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lots of free happy hours and social events

    Cons

owners expect you to live on call whenever a client needs something. Training lis lackluster. Firm doesn't promote within but brings in higher level people. Not well known so exit opportunities are few and far between. I should have stayed with MB.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees with respect, start mentoring current employees, pretend like you care.

I have been working at Kelton

    Pros

It's a fast-paced environment, which means that working at Kelton is rarely boring. The team is close and work is interesting. The company is evolving into a strategic consulting and design agency which suggests that more design and innovation projects (and skill sets) are on the horizon. It's an unusually creative research shop, and offers a rare opportunity for researchers to have heavy exposure to qual and quant...

    Cons

Environment is very entrepreneurial, so change happens quickly and employees need to adapt. There's a pretty clear channel of communication from management to staff, but internal relationships are key to success. Employees need to be comfortable building those with others who have a variety of personalities and skill sets.

I have been working at Kelton

    Pros

good location above a starbucks. Management routinely takes people out to happy hours but then says things aren't good enough for merit raise increases.. I'd rather have a raise than a martini!

    Cons

Management will say whatever needs to be said to clients in order to win projects and then spins the data to say what they want to hear. Not a place where true insights are sought.

    Advice to Management

a background in journalism doesn't qualify you to be an adviser to c-level execs. If you don't have the skills to take on a project don't take it on and then b.s. your way through it.
