I have been working at Kemira full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Compensation is in line with the market and in some cases above average; good medical and dental benefits that are comprehensive and affordable; good opportunities for growth within the company; flexible hours and a nice working environment; managers that encourage employees to learn more and advance in the company; managers that truly care for their employees

    Cons

Organization changes often and communications about changes still needs improvement; employee morale is down but will improve with time if new management works to unite their teams; cross-functional communication and cooperation definitely needs improvement

    Advice to Management

Ensure that when information is passed top-down, that mid-level managers are actually sharing the information and explaining the overall goal and how it affects their teams directly. Also help the people doing the everyday tasks understand how their work can impact strategy and revenue. This helps everyone feel included and invested in the company.

    Advice to Management

Even though we are good at this already, we can keep focusing in good communications, which is an important factor in engagement and understanding where we are, in which direction we are heading to, and what is expected from us during the journey.

    I worked at Kemira full-time

    Pros

    The employees at the plant.

    Cons

The employees at corporate have no clue where their paycheck comes from (aka manufacturing) and therefore provide no support. The company places too much on factory managers and continue to add more. Senior managers make poor business decisions. Employees are not happy. They have had too many lay offs (3 rounds in 2 years at various levels due to "re-structuring" and lack of business demand). There is too much turn over in management due to the issue previously mentioned and they have a hard time keeping good managers due to overloading them. There is no room for growth and no career plan to help you grow at the factory level. The plant is very old and poses a significant safety hazard.

    Advice to Management

Hopefully the new re-structuring will provide help at the manufacturing sites. More support is greatly needed. Train corporate employees to understand that they are supposed to be a support role and not bog down the plants with emails, call or tasks that waste time and add no value. Change how you plan to retain talent at the manufacturing sites. There was no plan when I worked there and whatever is in place is not working.

I have been working at Kemira full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

we are very busy with no end in sight with a large market share of paper dyes

    Cons

pay is not what it should be, mandatory overtime, dangerous, dirty, not climate controlled

    Advice to Management

always second guessing the operators, treating them like lowest on the totem pole

I worked at Kemira full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I wasn't looking for a job but a temp service found me. It was low stress. The work was simple.

    Cons

The management and supervision lacked direction and the ability to lead. There was no communication between salaried and hourly personnel. The pay was extremely low for the area. The plant had a bargaining unit thus it bound all hourly employees to the bargaining agreement.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your employees and treat them like people. If you're good to them, they'll be good to you.

    Pros

    -Great HR Team
-Some enjoyable people to work with

    Cons

-Upper Management and above is only out for themselves
-Re-organization of the business units every 2-3 years
-Unrealistic expectations with respect to work load and budget
    -Extreme under compensation
    -Low Morale
-Shareholders and Management Board do not understand the industries that Kemira plays in

    Advice to Management

-Pay attention to the little guys
-It's sad how often people get trampled on

I have been working at Kemira full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only good thing is that they have flexible hours

    Cons

This is really the worst place to work at. They have very little consideration for employees here, they treat us like we don't matter. The pay is horrible and management sucks. Everyone here is petty and will do anything to make you feel underappreciated. They literally do not care about you at all.
