I worked at Kemper CPA Group LLP full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Relatively large national company but local offices quite small. Friendly staff and partners. Flexible hours and schedule. Great team building outings

    Cons

Because of headquarters elsewhere, decision making capabilities are a challenge. Raises and bonuses not a frequent occurrence. Lack of 4 year degree keeps title and salary very limited.

I have been working at Kemper CPA Group LLP full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Ability to take ownership of experience. Actually considered part of staff for legitimate tasks (no coffee/dry cleaning runs). Nice private window office to do work in and personal laptop for field work. Was offered full-time position halfway through 12 week internship.

    Cons

There was little to no training provided, so most everything learned by trial/error and asking for help. Personal computer had issues from previous employee.

    Pros

The salary was competitive with other offers.

    Cons

The management of the Kemper in Paducah, KY completely lack ethics. They bring in new employees annually and have a high rate of terminating them. They will tell you that you are amazing then turn around and fire you the next day. Highly emotional management. Management doesn't communicate well with staff and train or listen to their employees. The managing partners display the poor morals and high drama.

    Advice to Management

Hire behavioral therapist to help the management with their deep rooted issues.

I worked at Kemper CPA Group LLP full-time

    Pros

Great work/life balance, good retirement plan, decent salary, able to get a good amount of experience and learn quite a bit.

    Cons

Poor training, questionable business ethics and integrity concerns, a bit of favoritism with various employees.

    Advice to Management

Provide training and educate employees (outside of on-the-job experience). Don't make them feel inadequate, but rather help develop skills in them. Don't focus so hard on dollar figures. Also, keep an eye on your business ethics.

I have been working at Kemper CPA Group LLP full-time

    Pros

Good exposure with a wide array of accounting and tax applications.

    Cons

Poor salary, significant inconsistencies among offices, and high turnover rates. At some offices the partners seem to be concerned only of themselves. When combining these factors the result is unhappy staff, poor training, and low productivity. Annoying billable hours and the scrutiny that follows. The longer you are here the more it appears to feel like a pyramid scheme.

    Advice to Management

Take time to bring staff up properly. Invest time in your support staff. Recognize loyalty and hard work. When your office has increased revenues, recognize your staff and give them a well deserved raise or bonus. Incentives are important to retain and maintain happy productive employees.
