I have been working at Kemper full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great selection of benefits Laid back environment No micromanagement Casual dress code Small company feel with big company benefits Employees are very happy, from my first interview for the job, I noticed how happy everyone was in the lobby and even in the elevators. Very positive atmosphere. I came to Kemper from State Farm, the largest insurer in North America, where we were underpaid, overworked, and severely micromanaged....

I have been working at Kemper full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are some real talented, experienced people working at the adjuster level and in lower management. My leader is probably one of the best I've worked for, and that is within any industry/job I've held. He is a walking claims encyclopedia and will fight for you. The office is decent, quite, albeit very small. Standard assortment of benefits. 401k, health, dental etc. PTO seems to accrue quickly.

    Cons

I hate to focus on the bad, but here goes. This place can be great, but right now, it is not. Not enough staff to handle the amount of workload. And the volume is not crazy or anything, its more of the tedious, laborious, amount of administrative work. No bulk billing for vendors we use often, so get ready to issue payments to everybody. Uploading documents to a claim file one by one by one by one... You are usually...

    Advice to Management

I know that most of our middle management have come from several different companies, and all are beating their chests to become the "guy", which is fine. But don't expect caviar and foie gras, when you give us spoiled milk and a box of Hamburger Helper to cook with. I really want to like this place.

I have been working at Kemper full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Amount of paid holidays & PTO accrual. Competitive salary. Excellent on onboarding. $1000 match of HSA

    Cons

Incredibly high volume- over 120 exposures each month for 1.5 yrs straight. Receive full claim load when you take PTO for 1 day. You only get taken off claims when you take 2 or more PTO days. Very high turnover...claims departments have been hiring non-stop for over 3 yrs. Dental plan has a $1500 max...that is not a max out of pocket...the plan only pays $1500 & it includes cleanings. Don't get a cavity or...

I have been working at Kemper full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

A job with benefits, working inside.

    Cons

Numerous recent layoffs. Kemper was a good place to work. The merge with Infinity has been and continues to be a disaster for front-line employees. How are a reduced number of employees supposed to handle the same claim volume? The Dallas claims office is being physically restructured to pack as many adjusters as possible into a small space. We need room to work. We need privacy to take statements. WE NEED QUIET.

    Advice to Management

Why bother? It's all been said and falls on deaf and dumb ears.

    Pros

There are no pros about this place.

    Cons

This is a poorly ran company that manages by the numbers. They have no concern for their front line employees. Leadership is a joke that offers no real support or coaching. The policies that they write are inconsistent and full of loop holes making it almost impossible to pass any audits or have confident coverage disucssions. Theor process are unreasonably tome consuming with absolutely no departmental support. Adjusters...

Paycheck that’s it nothing else RUN like hell

    Cons

So many to list I don’t have that much time. 1. Benefits are the worst and get worse each year. 2. Management bad at all layers 3. Your direct managers don’t care just like upper management 4. They want your life to be the company 5.If something personal happens like you need surgery they talk crap about you and won’t let you recover because they will call you at home 4 to 5 times a day even though your on disability...

I have been working at Kemper full-time

    Pros

It's a paycheck. Benefits are close to industry standards, but health insurance is bad

    Cons

Ever since they changed upper management , it's been on a downward trajectory. Look up on Google why the current CEO was released from his prior job and you get an idea of what kind of people they like. No pay raises No promotions. They hire their buddies from outside the company, completely ignoring long term employees. It used to be a good company but not just another insurance industry hack.

    Advice to Management

Don't bother. They don't care, will not listen and will not change.

I worked at Kemper full-time for more than a year

      Pros

There is nothing positive about a claims position with Kemper (Alliance United).

      Cons

The workload and minimal pay make this a horrendous place to work. Even with receiving "Exceeds Expectations" in all metrics, for review, the pay raise did not even equal a cost of living increase.

My whole job discription. My role working with this company was a auto liability Claim Adjuster. I would say training is horrible, it’s 2 weeks & one of the two weeks were completely based on policies which at the time I started, there were only 2 policies which were almost the same. I have been working at Kemper full-time (Less than a year)

      Pros

The hiring process was smooth and the salary is a little above average for an adjuster trainee with licenses but no experiences. The employees appear to act live a family and everyone is nice welcoming.

      Cons

They do not have a Spanish team so it appears you may have to call out for translators often.
